when 2012 comes
What I want to do...I want to go to Disneyland cause there is a new exhibit called Carsland!!!! It sounds really fun. Cuase you get to go into the buildings. It sounds so cool that you get to ride in your own car that is any kind of car from Cars, except from Cars 2, maybe. Cause it is 2012 when it opens and it is only 2011 right now.
in 2011
I went to first grade. I the first few days, like in Kindergarten, I was scared. A few days passed until the 20th day of school until I had a friend named Peter and then I had a friend named Joey. He was better than Peter.
At September I saw Star Wars for the first time. And it was cool. I like Darth Maul because he has a double light saber. It looks huge and heavy. For Halloween I was a Clone Trooper from Star Wars, too.
in2010
I went to school for the first time in Kindergarten. I was scared on the first day. A few days after, like the third day, I had a few friends in my class. Years went past until it was December and it turned 2011. Years passed until August and it was during summer break and I was in Hawaii and I turned 6. Six was really fun. Until October the day after Halloween, I lost my first tooth and it fell out. I was so happy I cried. I was so scared before I lost a tooth because I thought it was going to hurt and it didn't.

December 2009
December 3, 2009: Colby likes to do exercises now and in the morning while I am feeding the girls I was able to entertain him by having him do different exercises around the house. He used my big exercise ball and had fun doing that. Then he went to his school and then he came home and wanted to listen to his Spanish CD from Spanish class. He does the silliest dance where he shakes his hips back and forth. He knows he is being silly.
Sunday, December 6, 2009: Colby had really wanted to make juice today. Well we didn’t have any to make so he ended up inventing his own. He found the pitcher and opened the fridge and pretty much anything he found he added to it. The ingredients were as follows. Milk, butterscotch, chocolate, not bad so far right?- then added vinegar (do you know what vinegar does to milk?), parmesan cheese, lemon juice, lime juice, cottage cheese, and my favorite – yeast! He made sure he stirred up good. And then he was ready to try it. He didn’t even hesitate to taste it. He took a sip and then thought about it and said it wasn’t very good. He did a little shutter, that made him shake and then he said it was a little too spicy! He offered it to Josh who actually tasted it to and then told him that “it is all yours Dad.” I can’t get Colby and Josh to eat half of the things for dinner yet they both knew everything in that and they both tasted it!
Monday, December 7, 2009: I thought it might be fun to have Colby look on the computer with me to find some ideas for Christmas. He figured out very quickly how to click on items and move them to the shopping cart!
Saturday, 12-12 Ward Party Colby asked Santa for Rocky the Robot for Christmas.
Monday, 12-14 Colby was pretending that he was having Crunched as a baby. He stuffed him in his shirt and then pulled him out and pulled up his shirt and put him up to his nipple to feed him.

Sept - Nov 2009
Monday, September 7, 2009: Colby slept through the night but woke up with a fever so I gave him Tylenol and his fever broke and he started to feel a little better. He woke up first thing and wanted to mow the lawn with Josh but we need to try to get to the doctors. I called the doctor and got in for a 10 am appointment. So we went to the doctors. He took one look at Colby’s bite and said that it was for sure a tick bite with Lyme disease. HE gave him an amoxicillin prescription for 3 times a day for 3 weeks. He said that we caught it early enough that there shouldn’t be nay long term effects. He did check him for signs of meningitis and arthritis. We went straight to the pharmacy after leaving the doctors. Amazingly that was Colby’s first visit to the doctors beside for his regular doctor appointment checkups. His bite had gotten even bigger over night and was scary looking. We had pulled out the hide-a-bed for him yesterday and he pretty much spent the day there. He wanted to watch movies of course. He took a nap but when he woke up his was really hot. I gave him more Tylenol but it didn’t seem to do much for him this time. He was getting sicker but when he woke up his first request was to mow the lawn with Josh. He was crying he wanted to do it so bad but he was so sick. Josh finally said he would take him outside. They went out and came in two seconds later and Colby was crying saying he was too sick to do it. Josh BBQed hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner but Colby wouldn’t eat. I think I was stressing out a little too much because I started having bad contractions and stomach pains and all I could do is to lay down. We called Rhett Johnson, who had volunteered to give a blessing if he needed one, to come give a blessing. When he got here Colby had just dozed off and had woken up again, even worse than before. They were able to give him a blessing. Patty also sent some Motrin with him. I checked his fever and it was over 104. So we gave him medicine (first he needed to eat or drink so chocolate milk seemed to do the trick). Within a half hour his fever started to break. I feel so blessed to have the Priesthood in my life and then it can do such miraculous things. We were able to get him to eat some ice cream and read stories a little while later.
Wednesday, September 16, 2009: We dropped Grammy off at the airport and as she was walking away Colby said, “I miss her already.”
Friday, September 18, 2009: Maren called at 9:45 am saying that the Canton Totplex had openings for Evan and Colby to join a Tot Gym class. It is an 8 week program where they introduce a different sport every week.
. It was fun to watch all these 3 year olds run around. Colby’s in the 3 year old class since Evan still is and Colby just turned 4. The older class was for 4-6 years and that seemed too old for Colby. Colby did a great job. He was all sweaty.
we stopped at CVS to pick up Colby’s second half of his amoxicillin. We grabbed some more night light bulbs and when the guy was putting them in the bag the package opened and he said, “I’m all thumbs.” Colby thought that was pretty funny and has said the phase again.
Saturday, September 19, 2009: Josh went to the 8 am temple session. While Josh was gone I asked Colby if he remembered his scripture for the primary program that we hadn’t reviewed since FHE – he did.
Sunday, September 20, 2009: Colby was on Josh’s “team” and together they helped get ready. We had the windows open to “air out the boys” in the stinky house! The neighbor, Charlie, was outside washing his car. Colby was yelling through the window to home and they were talking to each other then Colby says, “We don’t wash our car on Sunday.” During dinner Colby recited his scripture for primary to the missionaries and then we asked him if he know what it meant to be born of the water and he said, “when you go in the water and come out, like I get born of the water when I go to Houghton’s Pond.”
Tuesday, September 22, 2009: After Josh and I getting 5 hours of sleep, Colby wakes up at 7:30 am and says that he is ready for school. Today is his first day of school but it doesn’t start until noon. Colby had a great day at school. He said his teachers said glue and scissors are just for teachers and he said he asked the teacher if they sing songs and they told him there are no songs in their school. I’m not quite sure about that.
Wednesday, September 23, 2009: Colby had the idea that we play Charades. He is actually getting pretty good at acting and guessing. He just started randomly singing “Get on your boots” he wanted to go to the concert too.
Thursday, September 24, 2009: The boys were eating lunch and Colby wanted to show Evan the clips from the U2 concert. I told Colby that I didn’t think Evan would want to and he looked at Evan and Evan said no. Colby said, “But they are awesome Evan. They go like this, Get on your boots, Get on your boots, Let me in the sound, Let me in the sound, Let me in the sound.” And he was singing and dancing to show Evan how cool they were.
Saturday, September 26, 2009: for the first time ever, some neighborhood kids who live on the other side of our circle came over twice to see if Colby could play. They are 10 and 7 years old. How did Colby grow up so fast? There are no kids on our side of the circle and we never see the kids when they are out. As Colby rides his bike around the block he always stops to say Hi to people and the neighborhood is getting to know Colby very quickly. He is definitely better at making friend than we are!
Monday, September 28, 2009: He weighs 35 pounds and is 41 inches tall. Still on the tall and skinny side.. So when it was time for his shots they had me climb on the exam table too and have him sit on my lap (I had to scoot all the way back so he could sit on my legs because I have no lap) and I was to hold his arms and hands down tight while two nurses came in and each gave him two shots on each arm at the same time. Colby was the best 4 year old they had ever seen they said. He didn’t make a sound or even flinch when they poked him. He was so brave it almost made me cry! When I hopped down and looked at him, his little bottom lip was quivering but he made no sound. The nurse brought him lots of extra stickers and said he did such a great job.
Tuesday, September 29, 2009: The first thing Colby said when he woke up was, “Mom I have something to say to you. Happy Halloween. Can we make a Halloween breakfast?”!
Wednesday, September 30, 2009: After our late breakfast I thought I would call the allergist at Children’s Hospital, the one that the Pediatrician had recommended so Colby could get tested for eggs and then get his flu shot. I was thinking that it would take months and then I probably wouldn’t even end up doing it but when I called they said they had an opening at 12:30 today in Waltham so I took it. I was glad not to have to wait months and them not to have to go to Children’s Hospital in Boston was an added bonus. Colby didn’t really want to go but didn’t complain all that much either. We made it just in time. We talked to the doctor for a while and then they decided to do some allergy testing anyway. He had said that because he can eat foods with bakes eggs in it that he can get the flu shot and won’t have a problem. So to get tested Colby had to get poked again. This time it was 17 times on his back! What a brave little boy. He stood while I sat and gave me a big hug while I hugged his head and bum so he wouldn’t flinch too much. Once again he was so brave beyond measure. He let a few tears drop but didn’t say anything. They asked if he wanted to sit in the chair when it was all done but he wanted to hug me for a few more minutes. They brought in an “I spy” game where you have a little shaker full of plastic beads and there are small little toys hid in it that you have to try to find. That helped occupy him for the 15 minutes that we had to wait for the testing. Turns out that he is allergic to eggs, cats, and dust mites. I thought he was suffering from allergies right now but it must be a cold instead but they did say there are too many different environmental allergies to test for them all so it is possible he is allergic to ones they didn’t test. So they want him to have an epi-pen with him at all times because of the egg allergy but that he can go ahead and get the flu shot and eat foods with eggs baked in it. I don’t really get it. His biggest allergy was to dust mites though and they want us to thoroughly clean his room. We were in the drs. Office for 2 hours.
Friday, October 2, 2009: Colby is all about striking. He told Josh on Friday, "I want you to go on Strike at the Prudential center (where Josh works) so you don't have to go to work. I love you too much." He's been watching Newsies and figures if Josh goes on Strike then he can stay home and play with Colby!
Saturday, October 3, 2009. As we were almost asleep and it had been quite for a while, Colby says, “Mom, I’ve been thinking and I have an idea. I think we should have a Halloween party at our house.”
calm down by playing Charades and then reading books.
Monday, October 05, 2009: For FHE Colby wanted to play Charades again. He acted out the scene from The Apple Dumpling Gang where Theodore is trying to light his cigarette and catches his pants on fire. He was very cute at doing it but in the mean time it brought on an opportunity to talk about the Word of Wisdom, which we did.
Friday, October 9, 2009: Sports class was hockey today. It was fun to watch Colby play. He was all over the ball (they play on turf so they used a ball instead of a puck).
Friday, October 16, 2009: Josh took Colby to the circus tonight for his first time. Colby talked about the animals and the clowns but before he even had his shoes off he said, “There were some random parts in it.” He said there were some “ ladies and some tall guys that were kind of random.” Over all he had a really fun time. Josh said that they ate at McDonalds just outside the arena and couldn’t take food in so everyone was sitting on the ground eating and Colby sat by a lady and started talking to her and said that they were going to the circus and asked what her name was and then when they left he said, “I’ll see you in the circus.”
Sunday, October 25, 2009: - Primary program was today. I am so happy to be able to have made it so I can see Colby in his first program. He did such a good job. He said his part so clearly and slowly. He was the only kid under the age of 8 I think that you could actually understand. Each time they sang a song Colby made sure he made his way to the very front. He would say, “Excuse me” until he got all the way to the front. He wasn’t quite as loud or into it as he was yesterday but he still sang Families can be together Forever at the top of his lungs. It was so great! Josh took me home after sacrament. I just couldn’t last any more. I was given quite a few gifts at church. Doris Gomez gave Colby a gift too and what a perfect gift and perfect timing it was. When Josh and Colby got home from church and the baptism of the Bradys which Josh baptized them; Colby was just screaming and crying to go to Timnas. After church he always goes into RS and since I wasn’t there TImna said that he could stay with her. I guess he thought that meant going home with her. So being as tired as he was he was out of control. When I told him he had a present to open he finally calmed down. IT turned out to be the perfect ting for him. It was snapping blocks kind of like Legos. Him and I ended up playing with them for 7 hours that day! HE totally forgot about TImnas.,
Saturday, October 31, 2009:. Colby (aka Batman) was very excited to go trick or treating. Colby ended up heading out around 6ish. Josh and Bonnie went with him. They came back just about 20 minutes later with Colby screaming. It was fairly warm and humid out and he had put his crocks on the wrong feet and ended up getting a blister and was done trick or treating. He had made it around the block and his pumpkin was completely full! I guess all the excitement has finally caught up to him!
November 1 - Josh said he bore his testimony and Colby wanted to come with him and that he bore his testimony too. He ended up saying his Primary Program scripture again.
November 4, 2009: We still hadn't officially picked names yet but when Colby walked in the room he said, "Where's Eliza and Delaney?" So it was decided for us!
Wednesday, November 18, 2009: He was now complaining of an itch head. I thought it was because he hadn’t washed his hair for so long. So in the tub he was asking me to wash his hair and it itch his head. He hates me playing and touching his head so this was really weird. So I was scratching his head hard and he said it felt good. So we rinsed him off and as the water was draining out of the tub I saw little brown things on the washcloth that had been in the tub. Colby was now out of the tub and drying off. I looked at the wash cloth and called for bonnie – it had about 10 lice crawling on it! Colby hated to get his hair combed through. It’s small teeth pulled his hair and he just cried and screamed for about 6 hours. He watched a movie at the same time which helped.
Friday, November 20, 2009: Colby and I left right away to go to the doctors because he was getting his H1N1 flu shot. We got there and it was an actual drs. Appointment because of is allergy to eggs they wanted to monitor him. Even thought I told them he didn’t need it they still made us see the doctor rather than just get the shot and go. We had to pay a co-pay and sit and wait for 15 minutes after and check Colby out. Needless to say he was not happy with the whole idea. He started crying just walking into the doctors. I thought that they were going to give him the nasal one but they ended up bringing in the shot. I guess having the twins around the doctor didn’t want him getting the nasal one because it has a live virus in it. So it took me and the nurse holding him down but he finally got it. He felt a little sick but that was because he was crying so hard and couldn’t calm down. Finally he did and we were able to go with no problems.
Tuesday, November 24, 2009: Colby made a turkey in school today out of paper bags. When I asked him what he talked about today he told me, turkeys. When I asked him what he learned about turkeys he said, “Mom this isn’t science school, this is preschool.”
Thursday, November 26, 2009:. At 5 pm we sat down to dinner and as we did, BAM, Colby just started crying and pulling on his ear and saying that his ear hurt. He tried laying down for a while but just cried and cried. Josh and I ended up eating way too fast and not enjoying any food on the way down. I was so worried about Colby and felt really bad.
Friday, November 27, 2009: We called the doctors in the morning right away and they said to bring him in. It took some convincing Colby that he wasn’t going to get a shot and the doctors would make him feel better. He finally agreed to go if he got a special toy from Shaw’s that he had seen when he went grocery shopping with Josh last time. Of course he had an ear infection and he got put on Amoxicillin again. It was his first ear infection ever.
November 30, 2009: He says he knows we celebrate Christmas because Jesus was born but really likes the fact that it revolves around Santa Claus.

August 2009 updates
Monday, August 3, 2009: Then Colby’s Idea was to play “I Spy.” He was trying to tell us which primary teacher taught him that game and he said, “It’s the one full of air.” That’s how he describes fat people since we told him it isn’t nice to call people fat.
Tuesday, August 4, 2009: Colby climbed into my bed when he woke up this morning. He told me once again that I am cute and chubby. He thinks he is giving me a compliment – coming from him it is! He knows that saying “fat” isn’t nice so he calls me chubby.
Thursday, August 6, 2009: Colby was up just after 7 am and was ready to go to the dentist. It was his first appointment today. When it was his turn he climbed right up on the big chair and laid back and was ready to go. He laughed and smiled through the whole thing. He didn’t like when the chair got too reclined, but he just told them that it was far enough. And he didn’t like the toothpaste they used either. He held up his hand to have them stop and then he got up to rinse and spit and laid back down for more.
Friday, August 7, 2009: We went to Jessica’s (Levinson) Birthday Party at the Dedham health complex swimming pool. They had big inner tubes for floating on. Evan and Colby each had a tube they were sitting in. I was in between Evan and Colby, and I saw Evan flop over backwards! So I went over to him to help him up and I turned over and looked at Colby. He had just done a back flip off of his tube too. Evan at least knows how to hold his breath, Colby on the other hand won’t do it. So I ran over to him and he was able to pop himself up. He took a big breath and looked at me and said “why did you knock me over?” Surprisingly he didn’t get any water in his nose and mouth. He held his breath, even more surprising was that he didn’t’ cry. He just wanted to wipe his eyes off with a towel.
Saturday, August 08, 2009 Josh did not stick to his grocery list made me very irritated. We ended up leaving around 2:30. I was still irked in the car until on the radio the song “I’ll make you crazy” came on, and Colby who was quiet blurted out “Hurry, Change It”. For some reason he hates that song and he could tell right away what it was. We had to put on the Dixie Chicks for him (his new favorite CD in the car). He gave me a much needed laugh.
I woke up at 4am because I heard the lid of the toilet close. Colby had gone to the bathroom! But he also had on his bedroom light and was reading a book. He said that he had a bad dream – that he and I were playing blocks downstairs, and we built a tower and looked in and saw a face looking in at us. So he didn’t want to go back to sleep. He stayed up and finished reading his book then went back to sleep.
Sunday, August 16, 2009 church it was so hot so we had the AC in the car on. Colby wanted his window down (as usual). Josh said “if you can tell me what 2 + 2 is, I’ll roll down your window.” Without missing a beat Colby said, “It is 4.”, so we had a hot ride home.
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 I tried to sleep but couldn’t . I heard Colby making sounds at 11:45pm, and went in his room and asked him what he was doing. He didn’t say anything, he was just laughing in his sleep.
Saturday, August 22, 2009: I called an inactive sister to say Hi and was giving her my phone number and paused for her to write it down and Colby goes “6,9” to finish off our phone number. I had no idea he knew it.
Tuesday, August 25, 2009: seems we went to the playground. We stayed for a couple hours. There were a couple kids and their mom their and Colby said to me as they were right there, “Why is their skin kind of dark and blackish?” Really? He has been around so many different people for his whole life and has never said much about it and now with them right there he has to bring it up? I just said there are lots of different kind of people and everyone is different. He wasn’t bothered by it, just curious. Then he was playing with an older boy and he saw me and told the boy, “That’s my mom over there. The pregnant lady.” I was just laughing at him!
Wednesday, August 26, 2009: Colby woke up this morning and said, “Is it Wednesday? That means trash night and Wipeout (our new favorite TV show) is on today.”
Sunday, August 30, 2009: As church was over Maren, and some others were talking in the hallway. Colby was trying to talk to Maren saying Maren, Maren, Maren over and over. Finally he walked right up in the circle and stuck is finger up and said, “Excuse me, Maren, I am trying to talk.” He wanted to ask if he could play with Evan tomorrow.
Josh’s rash was still itchy and I was looking at it and I said it looked like alligator skin and Colby said, “Alligators don’t have hair.”
July 2009 updates
Wednesday, July 1, 2009:. Colby was talking to the babies down my mouth again. Then he did a family hug and hugged my belly and me at the same time! I am so glad he is excited for these babies to come.
We were reading about Bible stories and one was about Jesus walking on water and I told him about miracles Jesus did that they were thing we couldn’t do for ourselves and Colby put his hand on my belly and says, “Like Jesus giving us our babies.” Yes, Colby that is a miracle!
Sunday, July 5, 2009: After church Colby showed me a picture he made in primary. He had traced his hand and each finger was a member of his family. He had me, mom, dad, sister, sister. I am so glad that he has already accepted them as part of his family and that he is so excited for them to come.
Monday, July 6, 2009: Colby played on the playground for a bit and he got on the swing by himself and started pumping by himself. He started yelling, “Look at me I am doing it by myself. Look at me, boys.”
Tuesday, July 28, 2009: Was the last Spanish class for Colby. He participated and picked up and a lot of things. We were singing the Itsy bitsy spider in Spanish and Jouveth gave Colby some little spiders to use during the song. He started to line them up all by himself and ten started counting them all in Spanish! He missed a few numbers but I didn't even know he knew the numbers passed tres!
Friday, July 31, 2009: Colby wanted to play games. He got out checkers and we actually played. He caught on very quickly.
