It sounds really fun. Cuase you get to go into the buildings. It sounds so cool that you get to ride in your own car that is any kind of car from Cars, except from Cars 2, maybe. Cause it is 2012 when it opens and it is only 2011 right now.

in 2011

in 2011
I went to first grade. I the first few days, like in Kindergarten, I was scared. A few days passed until the 20th day of school until I had a friend named Peter and then I had a friend named Joey. He was better than Peter.

At September I saw Star Wars for the first time. And it was cool. I like Darth Maul because he has a double light saber. It looks huge and heavy. For Halloween I was a Clone Trooper from Star Wars, too.

in2010

in2010
I went to school for the first time in Kindergarten. I was scared on the first day. A few days after, like the third day, I had a few friends in my class. Years went past until it was December and it turned 2011. Years passed until August and it was during summer break and I was in Hawaii and I turned 6. Six was really fun. Until October the day after Halloween, I lost my first tooth and it fell out. I was so happy I cried. I was so scared before I lost a tooth because I thought it was going to hurt and it didn't.

December 2009

December 3, 2009: Colby likes to do exercises now and in the morning while I am feeding the girls I was able to entertain him by having him do different exercises around the house. He used my big exercise ball and had fun doing that. Then he went to his school and then he came home and wanted to listen to his Spanish CD from Spanish class. He does the silliest dance where he shakes his hips back and forth. He knows he is being silly.

Sunday, December 6, 2009: Colby had really wanted to make juice today. Well we didn’t have any to make so he ended up inventing his own. He found the pitcher and opened the fridge and pretty much anything he found he added to it. The ingredients were as follows. Milk, butterscotch, chocolate, not bad so far right?- then added vinegar (do you know what vinegar does to milk?), parmesan cheese, lemon juice, lime juice, cottage cheese, and my favorite – yeast! He made sure he stirred up good. And then he was ready to try it. He didn’t even hesitate to taste it. He took a sip and then thought about it and said it wasn’t very good. He did a little shutter, that made him shake and then he said it was a little too spicy! He offered it to Josh who actually tasted it to and then told him that “it is all yours Dad.” I can’t get Colby and Josh to eat half of the things for dinner yet they both knew everything in that and they both tasted it!

Monday, December 7, 2009: I thought it might be fun to have Colby look on the computer with me to find some ideas for Christmas. He figured out very quickly how to click on items and move them to the shopping cart!

Saturday, 12-12 Ward Party Colby asked Santa for Rocky the Robot for Christmas.

Monday, 12-14 Colby was pretending that he was having Crunched as a baby. He stuffed him in his shirt and then pulled him out and pulled up his shirt and put him up to his nipple to feed him.

Sept - Nov 2009

Monday, September 7, 2009: Colby slept through the night but woke up with a fever so I gave him Tylenol and his fever broke and he started to feel a little better. He woke up first thing and wanted to mow the lawn with Josh but we need to try to get to the doctors. I called the doctor and got in for a 10 am appointment. So we went to the doctors. He took one look at Colby’s bite and said that it was for sure a tick bite with Lyme disease. HE gave him an amoxicillin prescription for 3 times a day for 3 weeks. He said that we caught it early enough that there shouldn’t be nay long term effects. He did check him for signs of meningitis and arthritis. We went straight to the pharmacy after leaving the doctors. Amazingly that was Colby’s first visit to the doctors beside for his regular doctor appointment checkups. His bite had gotten even bigger over night and was scary looking. We had pulled out the hide-a-bed for him yesterday and he pretty much spent the day there. He wanted to watch movies of course. He took a nap but when he woke up his was really hot. I gave him more Tylenol but it didn’t seem to do much for him this time. He was getting sicker but when he woke up his first request was to mow the lawn with Josh. He was crying he wanted to do it so bad but he was so sick. Josh finally said he would take him outside. They went out and came in two seconds later and Colby was crying saying he was too sick to do it. Josh BBQed hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner but Colby wouldn’t eat. I think I was stressing out a little too much because I started having bad contractions and stomach pains and all I could do is to lay down. We called Rhett Johnson, who had volunteered to give a blessing if he needed one, to come give a blessing. When he got here Colby had just dozed off and had woken up again, even worse than before. They were able to give him a blessing. Patty also sent some Motrin with him. I checked his fever and it was over 104. So we gave him medicine (first he needed to eat or drink so chocolate milk seemed to do the trick). Within a half hour his fever started to break. I feel so blessed to have the Priesthood in my life and then it can do such miraculous things. We were able to get him to eat some ice cream and read stories a little while later.

Wednesday, September 16, 2009: We dropped Grammy off at the airport and as she was walking away Colby said, “I miss her already.”

Friday, September 18, 2009: Maren called at 9:45 am saying that the Canton Totplex had openings for Evan and Colby to join a Tot Gym class. It is an 8 week program where they introduce a different sport every week.

. It was fun to watch all these 3 year olds run around. Colby’s in the 3 year old class since Evan still is and Colby just turned 4. The older class was for 4-6 years and that seemed too old for Colby. Colby did a great job. He was all sweaty.

we stopped at CVS to pick up Colby’s second half of his amoxicillin. We grabbed some more night light bulbs and when the guy was putting them in the bag the package opened and he said, “I’m all thumbs.” Colby thought that was pretty funny and has said the phase again.

Saturday, September 19, 2009: Josh went to the 8 am temple session. While Josh was gone I asked Colby if he remembered his scripture for the primary program that we hadn’t reviewed since FHE – he did.

Sunday, September 20, 2009: Colby was on Josh’s “team” and together they helped get ready. We had the windows open to “air out the boys” in the stinky house! The neighbor, Charlie, was outside washing his car. Colby was yelling through the window to home and they were talking to each other then Colby says, “We don’t wash our car on Sunday.” During dinner Colby recited his scripture for primary to the missionaries and then we asked him if he know what it meant to be born of the water and he said, “when you go in the water and come out, like I get born of the water when I go to Houghton’s Pond.”

Tuesday, September 22, 2009: After Josh and I getting 5 hours of sleep, Colby wakes up at 7:30 am and says that he is ready for school. Today is his first day of school but it doesn’t start until noon. Colby had a great day at school. He said his teachers said glue and scissors are just for teachers and he said he asked the teacher if they sing songs and they told him there are no songs in their school. I’m not quite sure about that.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009: Colby had the idea that we play Charades. He is actually getting pretty good at acting and guessing. He just started randomly singing “Get on your boots” he wanted to go to the concert too.

Thursday, September 24, 2009: The boys were eating lunch and Colby wanted to show Evan the clips from the U2 concert. I told Colby that I didn’t think Evan would want to and he looked at Evan and Evan said no. Colby said, “But they are awesome Evan. They go like this, Get on your boots, Get on your boots, Let me in the sound, Let me in the sound, Let me in the sound.” And he was singing and dancing to show Evan how cool they were.

Saturday, September 26, 2009: for the first time ever, some neighborhood kids who live on the other side of our circle came over twice to see if Colby could play. They are 10 and 7 years old. How did Colby grow up so fast? There are no kids on our side of the circle and we never see the kids when they are out. As Colby rides his bike around the block he always stops to say Hi to people and the neighborhood is getting to know Colby very quickly. He is definitely better at making friend than we are!

Monday, September 28, 2009: He weighs 35 pounds and is 41 inches tall. Still on the tall and skinny side.. So when it was time for his shots they had me climb on the exam table too and have him sit on my lap (I had to scoot all the way back so he could sit on my legs because I have no lap) and I was to hold his arms and hands down tight while two nurses came in and each gave him two shots on each arm at the same time. Colby was the best 4 year old they had ever seen they said. He didn’t make a sound or even flinch when they poked him. He was so brave it almost made me cry! When I hopped down and looked at him, his little bottom lip was quivering but he made no sound. The nurse brought him lots of extra stickers and said he did such a great job.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009: The first thing Colby said when he woke up was, “Mom I have something to say to you. Happy Halloween. Can we make a Halloween breakfast?”!

Wednesday, September 30, 2009: After our late breakfast I thought I would call the allergist at Children’s Hospital, the one that the Pediatrician had recommended so Colby could get tested for eggs and then get his flu shot. I was thinking that it would take months and then I probably wouldn’t even end up doing it but when I called they said they had an opening at 12:30 today in Waltham so I took it. I was glad not to have to wait months and them not to have to go to Children’s Hospital in Boston was an added bonus. Colby didn’t really want to go but didn’t complain all that much either. We made it just in time. We talked to the doctor for a while and then they decided to do some allergy testing anyway. He had said that because he can eat foods with bakes eggs in it that he can get the flu shot and won’t have a problem. So to get tested Colby had to get poked again. This time it was 17 times on his back! What a brave little boy. He stood while I sat and gave me a big hug while I hugged his head and bum so he wouldn’t flinch too much. Once again he was so brave beyond measure. He let a few tears drop but didn’t say anything. They asked if he wanted to sit in the chair when it was all done but he wanted to hug me for a few more minutes. They brought in an “I spy” game where you have a little shaker full of plastic beads and there are small little toys hid in it that you have to try to find. That helped occupy him for the 15 minutes that we had to wait for the testing. Turns out that he is allergic to eggs, cats, and dust mites. I thought he was suffering from allergies right now but it must be a cold instead but they did say there are too many different environmental allergies to test for them all so it is possible he is allergic to ones they didn’t test. So they want him to have an epi-pen with him at all times because of the egg allergy but that he can go ahead and get the flu shot and eat foods with eggs baked in it. I don’t really get it. His biggest allergy was to dust mites though and they want us to thoroughly clean his room. We were in the drs. Office for 2 hours.

Friday, October 2, 2009: Colby is all about striking. He told Josh on Friday, "I want you to go on Strike at the Prudential center (where Josh works) so you don't have to go to work. I love you too much." He's been watching Newsies and figures if Josh goes on Strike then he can stay home and play with Colby!

Saturday, October 3, 2009. As we were almost asleep and it had been quite for a while, Colby says, “Mom, I’ve been thinking and I have an idea. I think we should have a Halloween party at our house.”

calm down by playing Charades and then reading books.

Monday, October 05, 2009: For FHE Colby wanted to play Charades again. He acted out the scene from The Apple Dumpling Gang where Theodore is trying to light his cigarette and catches his pants on fire. He was very cute at doing it but in the mean time it brought on an opportunity to talk about the Word of Wisdom, which we did.

Friday, October 9, 2009: Sports class was hockey today. It was fun to watch Colby play. He was all over the ball (they play on turf so they used a ball instead of a puck).

Friday, October 16, 2009: Josh took Colby to the circus tonight for his first time. Colby talked about the animals and the clowns but before he even had his shoes off he said, “There were some random parts in it.” He said there were some “ ladies and some tall guys that were kind of random.” Over all he had a really fun time. Josh said that they ate at McDonalds just outside the arena and couldn’t take food in so everyone was sitting on the ground eating and Colby sat by a lady and started talking to her and said that they were going to the circus and asked what her name was and then when they left he said, “I’ll see you in the circus.”

Sunday, October 25, 2009: - Primary program was today. I am so happy to be able to have made it so I can see Colby in his first program. He did such a good job. He said his part so clearly and slowly. He was the only kid under the age of 8 I think that you could actually understand. Each time they sang a song Colby made sure he made his way to the very front. He would say, “Excuse me” until he got all the way to the front. He wasn’t quite as loud or into it as he was yesterday but he still sang Families can be together Forever at the top of his lungs. It was so great! Josh took me home after sacrament. I just couldn’t last any more. I was given quite a few gifts at church. Doris Gomez gave Colby a gift too and what a perfect gift and perfect timing it was. When Josh and Colby got home from church and the baptism of the Bradys which Josh baptized them; Colby was just screaming and crying to go to Timnas. After church he always goes into RS and since I wasn’t there TImna said that he could stay with her. I guess he thought that meant going home with her. So being as tired as he was he was out of control. When I told him he had a present to open he finally calmed down. IT turned out to be the perfect ting for him. It was snapping blocks kind of like Legos. Him and I ended up playing with them for 7 hours that day! HE totally forgot about TImnas.,

Saturday, October 31, 2009:. Colby (aka Batman) was very excited to go trick or treating. Colby ended up heading out around 6ish. Josh and Bonnie went with him. They came back just about 20 minutes later with Colby screaming. It was fairly warm and humid out and he had put his crocks on the wrong feet and ended up getting a blister and was done trick or treating. He had made it around the block and his pumpkin was completely full! I guess all the excitement has finally caught up to him!

November 1 - Josh said he bore his testimony and Colby wanted to come with him and that he bore his testimony too. He ended up saying his Primary Program scripture again.

November 4, 2009: We still hadn't officially picked names yet but when Colby walked in the room he said, "Where's Eliza and Delaney?" So it was decided for us!

Wednesday, November 18, 2009: He was now complaining of an itch head. I thought it was because he hadn’t washed his hair for so long. So in the tub he was asking me to wash his hair and it itch his head. He hates me playing and touching his head so this was really weird. So I was scratching his head hard and he said it felt good. So we rinsed him off and as the water was draining out of the tub I saw little brown things on the washcloth that had been in the tub. Colby was now out of the tub and drying off. I looked at the wash cloth and called for bonnie – it had about 10 lice crawling on it! Colby hated to get his hair combed through. It’s small teeth pulled his hair and he just cried and screamed for about 6 hours. He watched a movie at the same time which helped.

Friday, November 20, 2009: Colby and I left right away to go to the doctors because he was getting his H1N1 flu shot. We got there and it was an actual drs. Appointment because of is allergy to eggs they wanted to monitor him. Even thought I told them he didn’t need it they still made us see the doctor rather than just get the shot and go. We had to pay a co-pay and sit and wait for 15 minutes after and check Colby out. Needless to say he was not happy with the whole idea. He started crying just walking into the doctors. I thought that they were going to give him the nasal one but they ended up bringing in the shot. I guess having the twins around the doctor didn’t want him getting the nasal one because it has a live virus in it. So it took me and the nurse holding him down but he finally got it. He felt a little sick but that was because he was crying so hard and couldn’t calm down. Finally he did and we were able to go with no problems.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009: Colby made a turkey in school today out of paper bags. When I asked him what he talked about today he told me, turkeys. When I asked him what he learned about turkeys he said, “Mom this isn’t science school, this is preschool.”

Thursday, November 26, 2009:. At 5 pm we sat down to dinner and as we did, BAM, Colby just started crying and pulling on his ear and saying that his ear hurt. He tried laying down for a while but just cried and cried. Josh and I ended up eating way too fast and not enjoying any food on the way down. I was so worried about Colby and felt really bad.

Friday, November 27, 2009: We called the doctors in the morning right away and they said to bring him in. It took some convincing Colby that he wasn’t going to get a shot and the doctors would make him feel better. He finally agreed to go if he got a special toy from Shaw’s that he had seen when he went grocery shopping with Josh last time. Of course he had an ear infection and he got put on Amoxicillin again. It was his first ear infection ever.

November 30, 2009: He says he knows we celebrate Christmas because Jesus was born but really likes the fact that it revolves around Santa Claus.

August 2009 updates

Sunday August 2, 2009: In primary they were talking about temples. I asked Colby what they talked about and he said, “Going camping and the temple.” When I tried to find out more he said, “You need a tent and sleeping bag to go camping.” So when I asked sister Criddle she said they talked about how you have to prepare to go to the temple like you have to prepare to go camping. The Bishop talked in sharing time about baptisms for the dead. When he said, “for the dead” Colby had a look on his face and jumped out of his seat and said, “You baptize dead people?” I’m sure his thinking revolved around taking people from the cemetery. So the bishop then asked what they were going to do when they were 8 and Colby said, “I’m going to be a truck driver.” (Stories told by primary teachers and the Bishop).

Monday, August 3, 2009: Then Colby’s Idea was to play “I Spy.” He was trying to tell us which primary teacher taught him that game and he said, “It’s the one full of air.” That’s how he describes fat people since we told him it isn’t nice to call people fat.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009: Colby climbed into my bed when he woke up this morning. He told me once again that I am cute and chubby. He thinks he is giving me a compliment – coming from him it is! He knows that saying “fat” isn’t nice so he calls me chubby.

Thursday, August 6, 2009: Colby was up just after 7 am and was ready to go to the dentist. It was his first appointment today. When it was his turn he climbed right up on the big chair and laid back and was ready to go. He laughed and smiled through the whole thing. He didn’t like when the chair got too reclined, but he just told them that it was far enough. And he didn’t like the toothpaste they used either. He held up his hand to have them stop and then he got up to rinse and spit and laid back down for more.

Friday, August 7, 2009: We went to Jessica’s (Levinson) Birthday Party at the Dedham health complex swimming pool. They had big inner tubes for floating on. Evan and Colby each had a tube they were sitting in. I was in between Evan and Colby, and I saw Evan flop over backwards! So I went over to him to help him up and I turned over and looked at Colby. He had just done a back flip off of his tube too. Evan at least knows how to hold his breath, Colby on the other hand won’t do it. So I ran over to him and he was able to pop himself up. He took a big breath and looked at me and said “why did you knock me over?” Surprisingly he didn’t get any water in his nose and mouth. He held his breath, even more surprising was that he didn’t’ cry. He just wanted to wipe his eyes off with a towel.

Saturday, August 08, 2009 Josh did not stick to his grocery list made me very irritated. We ended up leaving around 2:30. I was still irked in the car until on the radio the song “I’ll make you crazy” came on, and Colby who was quiet blurted out “Hurry, Change It”. For some reason he hates that song and he could tell right away what it was. We had to put on the Dixie Chicks for him (his new favorite CD in the car). He gave me a much needed laugh.

I woke up at 4am because I heard the lid of the toilet close. Colby had gone to the bathroom! But he also had on his bedroom light and was reading a book. He said that he had a bad dream – that he and I were playing blocks downstairs, and we built a tower and looked in and saw a face looking in at us. So he didn’t want to go back to sleep. He stayed up and finished reading his book then went back to sleep.

Sunday, August 16, 2009 church it was so hot so we had the AC in the car on. Colby wanted his window down (as usual). Josh said “if you can tell me what 2 + 2 is, I’ll roll down your window.” Without missing a beat Colby said, “It is 4.”, so we had a hot ride home.
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 I tried to sleep but couldn’t . I heard Colby making sounds at 11:45pm, and went in his room and asked him what he was doing. He didn’t say anything, he was just laughing in his sleep.

Saturday, August 22, 2009: I called an inactive sister to say Hi and was giving her my phone number and paused for her to write it down and Colby goes “6,9” to finish off our phone number. I had no idea he knew it.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009: seems we went to the playground. We stayed for a couple hours. There were a couple kids and their mom their and Colby said to me as they were right there, “Why is their skin kind of dark and blackish?” Really? He has been around so many different people for his whole life and has never said much about it and now with them right there he has to bring it up? I just said there are lots of different kind of people and everyone is different. He wasn’t bothered by it, just curious. Then he was playing with an older boy and he saw me and told the boy, “That’s my mom over there. The pregnant lady.” I was just laughing at him!

Wednesday, August 26, 2009: Colby woke up this morning and said, “Is it Wednesday? That means trash night and Wipeout (our new favorite TV show) is on today.”

Sunday, August 30, 2009: As church was over Maren, and some others were talking in the hallway. Colby was trying to talk to Maren saying Maren, Maren, Maren over and over. Finally he walked right up in the circle and stuck is finger up and said, “Excuse me, Maren, I am trying to talk.” He wanted to ask if he could play with Evan tomorrow.

Josh’s rash was still itchy and I was looking at it and I said it looked like alligator skin and Colby said, “Alligators don’t have hair.”

July 2009 updates

Wednesday, July 1, 2009:. Colby was talking to the babies down my mouth again. Then he did a family hug and hugged my belly and me at the same time! I am so glad he is excited for these babies to come.

We were reading about Bible stories and one was about Jesus walking on water and I told him about miracles Jesus did that they were thing we couldn’t do for ourselves and Colby put his hand on my belly and says, “Like Jesus giving us our babies.” Yes, Colby that is a miracle!

Sunday, July 5, 2009: After church Colby showed me a picture he made in primary. He had traced his hand and each finger was a member of his family. He had me, mom, dad, sister, sister. I am so glad that he has already accepted them as part of his family and that he is so excited for them to come.

Monday, July 6, 2009: Colby played on the playground for a bit and he got on the swing by himself and started pumping by himself. He started yelling, “Look at me I am doing it by myself. Look at me, boys.”

Tuesday, July 28, 2009: Was the last Spanish class for Colby. He participated and picked up and a lot of things. We were singing the Itsy bitsy spider in Spanish and Jouveth gave Colby some little spiders to use during the song. He started to line them up all by himself and ten started counting them all in Spanish! He missed a few numbers but I didn't even know he knew the numbers passed tres!

Friday, July 31, 2009: Colby wanted to play games. He got out checkers and we actually played. He caught on very quickly.

June 2009 updates

Monday, June 01, 2009: I found a dime and told Colby I found some money. He asked if it was a penny and I said it was a dime, 10 cents, and he said, “Oh, ten cents” and he threw it down. What? Money is money Colby. We have a few lessons to learn!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009: Mom called back after we left a message for her birthday. We Skyped with them. Colby was being so hyper. He was talking in the microphone and saying, “Televison, Am I coming through, Televison” from Willy Wonka and a bunch of other rambling stuff too. I was laughing so hard tears came. Then at the end he said, “DO you understand what I am saying?” No, Colby we don’t!

Saturday, June 6, 2009: Colby was up by 6 am because our room had no shades and the sun was out and shining. I thought for sure that he would have melt downs all day. His only one came at 9:30 am during breakfast. Evan started saying the prayer for breakfast and Colby really wanted to say it so he pretty much yelled at Evan all during his prayer that he couldn’t say the prayer and he couldn’t say any more prayers. Only during the last week has Colby offered to say prayers and it just so happens that he will only say the breakfast prayer. So finally after about 15 mins. we convinced Colby that he could say a prayer too. Problem solved.

Monday, June 8, 2009: Colby wanted to pretend that he was Indy and a baby dog. So we went to the library and as we were leaving Colby decided that he was going to be a baby dog. He crawled on all fours over to a tree and lifted up his leg and said the doggy just went potty. So back at home he wanted t o pretend that he was Indy with a bell to ring when he wanted to go out. SO he gets on all fours and goes to the back door and tells me he is ringing the bell. So I let him out and he crawls to the tree in the backyard and lifts up his wrong leg, the one away from the tree, and says that the doggy just went potty. I had the monitor on him outside while I was working on the inside and he comes to the door and says, “Open the door mom.” So I go to the door and he says he needs hand sanitizer because he just peed. So I asked if he really peed or peed like a dog. He said that he peed like people but he was a dog. Well it was time to come right in and take a bath after that! At dinner Colby had a meltdown. I told him that he needed to come sit down for dinner and eat especially because he didn’t eat lunch. Well, he did not want to eat dinner. And he was yelling and crying about how he didn’t want to eat dinner and he wanted lunch and he wanted tortellini. Finally, Josh says that we are having tortillas but if he wanted to call it lunch he could and he could eat lunch. Well, that solved the problem he said, “Okay.” And he ended up eating tortilla for “lunch” with us while we ate our fajitas for dinner.

Monday, June 15, 2009: Colby received a letter today from Grandma Barr (GG), with a picture of a train. I was in the shower and Colby came in yelling “The Mailman gave me a Train! I have never gotten a train from the mail man before, I am so excited!”. He then asked us to call GG so he could thank her, which he did.

Friday, June 19, 2009: He found all kinds of boxes and collected hats to put in them. He was putting the hats in and he said, “This is a work of genius!” (as quoted form Aristocats I found out later).

Saturday, June 20, 2009: Colby started banging on the door saying “I’m hurt”. I let him in and he took of his crocks, which were on the wrong feet, and he had blisters! I gave him a bath and tried to calm him down. Josh calm in and Colby told him what happened and he said he had been crying but not real crying but fake crying.

Colby was so excited to play with Grammys chevron cars and trucks. I wanted him to eat and go to bed. I asked what he wanted and he said something you cook, “like what?”, Pasta. So I asked bonnie for Ramón noodles because they are quick. Then he said he wanted something that would take a long time to cool. I finally figured it out. He wanted us to cook so he could play with the toys. Very clever.

Monday, June 22, 2009: we were meeting the millers at the Gateway for a movie, UP, and Dinner. Colby was getting a little too tired, and I was worried about him making it. He fell asleep in the car 5 minutes before we got there. He was so tired in the movie. He was on the edge of his seat with his eyes blinking every second trying to stay awake. The movie was a little scary and not really entertaining for children so much. With about 15 minutes left Colby lost it. “I don’t want to watch this movie anymore”. He was crying pretty loudly. He said that he wanted to lay in a bed and get out of there. I was getting uncomfortable myself, so I was glad to be able to take him out.

It was almost 11pm again and Colby comes over to me holding the book “I feel my Savior’s Love” with his eyes closed, sleepwalking almost and he said “Mom can you read, I feel my Saviors’ love to me?” It was so sad how tired he was. He just laid down on the floor. I had Scott carry him downstairs so I could read to him. His eyes were just red and watery.

Thursday, June 25, 2009: Colby was talking to the babies by opening my mouth and saying “Hi babies.”

Saturday, June 27, 2009: Colby was talking to Grandma Miller and asking why she was so sick. Grammy told him it was because she fell and Colby said “Is that because you’re old?”

May 2009 Updates

Friday, May 01, 2009: I was reading Colby a book about sea life and I got to the octopus and he said, “It’s not an octopus, it’s octopi, there are two of them.” I stand corrected!

Monday, May 04, 2009: As I was reading stories to Colby he was looking at one of the pictures and said, “Check it out, Mom.” It was great.

Wednesday, May 06, 2009: Colby was looking at a magnet from Josh and I at Disneyland when we were in Toon Town and he said, “did that one make thunder?” Two years ago when we were in Toon Town with him he remembered going to one of the doors that if you tried to pull on it made thunder sound. Then he said, “Did the door open when you tried to open it?” Seriously, how does he remember?

Friday May 8th Colby was so excited to leave he laid in bed saying, “I’m too excited to sleep, I want to go on the airplane!” Then about an hour and a half later “I forgot to brush my teeth.” Finally to bed at 11:00
Saturday May 9th Flight delayed the plane until 1:30. Colby said “I want to get off and go home to Boston and play in my back yard”. When the Plane took off, Colby slept.
We found a road, litteraly, off the beaten path with Big pot holes. We drove past a field with skinny cows Colby and Colby says’ “look Gazels. ”
Sunday May 10th – Mothers Day Colby was digging a big hole in the sand and had his back to the waves and a huge wave came and Colby took a somersault into the hole with the water, he was not happy. Melissa tried to rinse him off in the outdoor shower. He did not want to shower.

Thursday May 14th Tempisque river. We stopped at a little restaurant to go to the bathroom and have some watermelon first. We tried putting sunblock on Colby there and it took 4 of us to get sunblock on him. HE was tired. Then we drove to the river. Got on a little boat to see wildlife. Colby had his life jacket on, which made him sweat on the boat. Came to white faced monkeys. They came down to the boat, and Colby and I fed them! There were lots of crocodiles, heard the howler monkey & saw it. Lots of birds and bats. Green iguana, scarlet macaws (endangered). Colby got splashed by a crocodile going into the water. Back to the van to a local restaurant by the river, and ate an authentic lunch. Colby was too tired to sit and eat.

Saturday May 16th Back on the road, Colby got car sick “I’m hot”.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009: I did laundry today. I was talking to Grandma Sorensen and a load had finished and I went to check on Colby and he had unloaded the drier and put all the clothes from the washer into the drier and was getting a drier sheet to turn it on! What a good helper!

Tuesday, May 26 - Colby and I drive to Syracuse. Stop 3 times. Colby loves to look at all the trucks driving and says he has them all and wants to try to catch up to the next one so we can pass it.

Thursday 28 -. Colby was so mellow around the dogs because he was afraid he was going to startle them and they would bark. We told him to walk slow and talk quite and he wouldn't scare the dogs and he wouldn't have to worry about them so he would whisper and walk at a snail’s pace. I think the time we were there was the most mellow he has ever been! I was talking to Josh on the phone and I asked him where he was and Colby in the room with me says, “Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane.” From Mary Poppins.. Mom and dad called and we talked to them. Mom said that Elder Lish was getting engaged and Colby said, "Oh, shoot. I liked him." Mom and dad thought that was pretty funny.

Friday, May 29 - When we were deciding where to go Red Robin was mentioned and Colby said he wanted the little hot dogs that had a thing like Cheerios around them. :Last time we were in Syracuse we went to Red Robin with the Calls (November) and Colby got the miniature corn dogs. I have no idea how he remembered that
Bath time when we got back but this time he didn't like that Luke was having so much fun splashing and Colby was getting wet. We took pictures of them in the tub and Colby scared of getting wet and Luke loving splashing.

Saturday 30 - Colby looked at the clouds and found crocodile that had his mouth open that was trying to eat a skeleton. He did great a entertaining himself in the car on the way home from Syracuse.

April 2009 Updates

Tuesday, April 7, 2009: So he did great at listening to the stories at the library but then when it came to the art project he did it for 2 seconds and then they tried to do songs and dancing and he would have nothing to do with it. When I asked him why later he said because he didn’t know any of the kids names. He has never participated in group activities like that.

Friday, April 10, 2009: On the way there we were listening to the radio and Colby asked what song was on and I said I wasn’t sure and he said, “You now it is David Cook from American Idol.” And it was!

Sunday, April 12, 2009: Colby was standing on the chair in the sunroom trying to look out at the trains and fell off the chair and landed on the ground, busting his lip. He laid in the sunroom on the beanbag for 45 mins with ice in his mouth just whimpering. Finally, the Easter bunny came and that helped him calm down.

Monday, April 13, 2009: The secretary gave Colby some crayons and paper to color. He colored fish and sharks. He liked watching the fish in the fish tank. And then he ran a around the waiting room having his shark attack his fish he drew. So much for a quiet activity.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009: Walking back to South Station from the Children’s Museum, Colby decided that he couldn’t walk any more. He was complaining about his feet hurting and he said, “Don’t let my heels hurt anymore.” So Michelle picks him up and puts him on her back and is pushing Luke, too. I just don’t feel good enough to pick him up.

Friday, April 17, 2009: He had found some rocks when we got there that I wouldn’t hold for him so he made a nest for them in a special spot so he was able to leave without a fight. He dressed himself today by putting his pants on backwards. We had some people ask if we knew that, most just laughed and thought it was cute.

Sunday, April 19, 2009: On the way home from church Colby kept asking “Why?” in the car. So he asked me a question and I said “Why?” and said it over and over again. He finally said, “You can’t keep asking why over and over.”

Wednesday, April 22, 2009: Josh called at 7 pm saying he was coming home and that he had a bad day. I said to Colby I was sad that dad had a bad day and Colby said, “He was probably walking by a skunk and it sprayed him and that’s why he had a bad day.”

Thursday, April 23, 2009: In the car on the way to pick up Josh Colby said, “I don’t want babies to come I want them to come as kids.” And then he added, “Do you think they will want to be garbage men like me when they grow up?”

March 2009 Updates

Sunday, March 15, 2009: Bonnie went into primary with Colby for the first hour and she said that they were talking about "someone special" and they asked if anyone could think of someone special that they might talk about and Colby said, "The garbage man!" The answer they were looking for was "Mothers". That's my Colby!

Thursday, March 19, 2009: Then he was ready to watch the Curious George, from PBS. The way he sings the intro. Song from that is just hilarious. He doesn’t understand one word they say so he just mumbles and is kind of humming out through his nose when he “sings.”

Tuesday, March 24, 2009: Colby was looking out the front window and said “Something’s happening out there. Lettuce is growing.” Seeing our perennials coming up!

Colby saying his prayers said, “Please bless that we will have two babies.”

Thursday, March 26, 2009: Colby’s monkey toy started going off in the middle of the night so Josh went in there to move it and Colby said, “What are you doing.” And Josh didn’t want to scare Colby so he said he was playing with his toy and Colby said, “You don’t wake up somebody.”

Monday, March 30, 2009: Before Colby went to bed last night he said that when he woke up he was going to sit in bed and say, “I’m Ready. I’m Ready. I’m Ready.” And that is just what he did!

Colby has been praying for two babies and when they said there were two he threw his hands up in the air and said, "I knew there were two babies." And then he was so excited to tell the doctor that he already knew there was two.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009: On the way home I saw Marie Criddle from the ward walking to the train stop. I said, “Hi Marie.” And then Colby said, “That’s not Marie. That is Sister Criddle.” She is now the new Primary President.

February 2009 Updates

Tuesday, February 03, 2009: Colby was helping me clean the bathroom and we had added the toilet bowl cleaner (blue) and then he said he had to go pee. So he went standing up and he said, “It is turning green.” And I asked if he knew why and what colors were mixing. And he said, “Yellow and blue are making green. They are like the primary colors.” I asked where he learned what the primary colors were and he said from his movie he had watched from the library. (We rented one a couple weeks ago about colors!)

Thursday, February 05, 2009: Colby ended up watching Word World. So the rest of the day he was Ant and I was Chef Pig and we made pies out of blocks. We spelt words with the blocks too.

Friday, February 06, 2009: I got Colby up about half an hour before we had to leave to go to playgroup. So I made breakfast and we were eating. He was still ant and I was Chef Pig from yesterday. Everything is a race to Colby and he always wants to win. So I was trying to get him to eat his breakfast fast so we could leave to go to playgroup. I had just finished taking my last bite when Colby says, “I got beaten by a pig!” I was laughing so hard. I wasn’t quite sure how to take that comment!

Monday, February 09, 2009: We told Colby it was time to get ready for bed and he told us we needed to read more Ensign and read our scriptures first before we could put him to bed!

Tuesday, February 10, 2009: Wall-e told EVE that she needed to get up this morning and run and that while she was running he could watch a movie called, Wall-e!

Friday, February 13, 2009: On the way home we were talking. I think Josh asked Colby something like, “What are you doing here?” and Colby said, “I told Heavenly Father that I wanted to come down to earth to be with my mommy and daddy.”

Saturday, February 14, 2009:Colby has been playing Rescue Heroes and he is the firefighter; because only firefighters are rescue heroes apparently. He saw one of the sculptures (some of the robots were on display that were moving sculptures) and he said they were like tickle worms.

Sunday, February 15, 2009: He was pretending to put mud on Josh and was trying to get him up and he said, “Get up lazy bones.”

Wednesday, February 18, 2009: Before we left this morning Colby decided that he was going to be Mr. The King from the movie Cars and that I was going to be Sally and then he said, "Who could Avery be?" and I said maybe she could be Flo because she was a girl. So at Avery’s Colby and Avery are playing and Avery says to Colby, "You can be Prince Erik (Little Mermaid) and Colby says, "No, I'm Mr. The King." and Avery says, "No you are Prince Erik." This went on back and forth and I started laughing. I went up to tell Brittany, who was upstairs making lunch, about the conversation downstairs. She said that this morning Avery told Brittany that she was Prince Erik and Brittany told her she was a girl and couldn't be so they decided that Colby could be Prince Erik when he came. I guess Flo and Prince Erik just didn't want to play their roles today!

Friday, February 20, 2009As we were cleaning up he was in his room singing some of the songs that Jouveth was just doing in her Spanish music class, “Este amigo” or something like that!

Sunday, February 22, 2009: During Sacrament meeting Colby and Josh were doing stickers. Josh pulled one and it broke part of it off and he told Colby he was sorry and Colby said, “Sorry just doesn’t cut it.”
Colby was really tired in primary and they had me come get him because he was laying on the floor. He put his head on my shoulder and I brought him into Relief Society with me. He did pretty good but he was talking a little too loud. The lesson was in Spanish and he said, “Is she talking in Spanish?” Then he had the translation head sets and could hear Jennifer Finet translating and he was saying, “Hello, Hello, Jennifer can you hear me?” thinking it was like a telephone. Then he was asking for food and asked if I had any food in my bag then he asked if there was food in my tummy then he asked in his then mine. Then he said, “Is there poop in here?” pointing to his tummy and then “is there poop in there?” pointing to mine and doing it over and over.

Thursday, February 26, 2009: So now for the interesting part of the day. So Colby had had to poop for a few days and today he decided he had to go, but it was a little struggle for him. So we tried putting him in bed and reading to him. He’d get up and go sit on the toilet and where from half an hour to one and half hours, with no luck. So finally at 11 pm when he was sitting on the toilet and asking for privacy, I let him a lone and went to lie down. I told him to call me when he was done and I’d help him from there. So I must have fallen asleep and at about 11:40 pm I hear him calling for me. So I get out of bed and go into the bathroom…oh my word…..there is poop all over! All over the toilet seat, all over the sink, the wall, and worst of all, all over Colby, ironically there was no poop in the toilet!!!! He had poop crusted dry to his hands! Seriously the only thing I could think of was that he had been watching the gorillas too long at the zoo (if you don’t know what I mean then go find some gorillas and watch them for a while and you will know). So I am kind of speechless at first and then “Colby what are you doing?” Just as calm as ever is his reply, “I touched my poop.” So then I ask the question that all of you are thinking, “Why?” and his most reasonable answer, “Because.” Obviously he hasn’t finished pooping as he was still sitting on the toilet. So now I am in threatening mode and tell him if he doesn’t poop he will lose a privilege (playing with Evan at the Museum of Science tomorrow). 5 seconds later, success! Now it is clean up time. As I try to clean his hands off I start to gag and dry heave. Colby asks why I am throwing up! I guess to him it was more like a mud pie, to me more like a cow pie! Have a mentioned that Josh is sleeping through all of this? So I did the only thing I could do and that was to stick Colby in the tub and scrub him down at midnight. While he is soaking I get out my sanitizers and disinfectors and start sanitizing. As Colby is getting in the tub he says, “Sorry I made you throw up, Mom,” Colby, sorry just doesn’t cut it!

January Updates

Sunday, January 04, 2009: Colby's first day of primary. He showed me where the primary room was. He walked right in walked right up to the front row and sat down with his arms folded! He looked so grown up! He even said the closing pray in Primary! AHHH. I can't believe it!

Monday, January 05, 2009: Later in the kitchen he said, “Barak Obama.” We asked him where he heard that and he said, “From my sister at church.”

Tuesday, January 06, 2009: His new thing is that he has to “win.” Every time we go downstairs it is a race and he says, “I’m going to win. I’m going to beat you.” He usually does because he is in front. He doesn’t like to lose. We’ll have to work on that.

Sunday, January 11, 2009: Church was canceled. We put on our church clothes and had our own little church meeting. We were given permission to bless the sacrament, so Josh did that for us. We had all the songs and prayers. We talked about the sacrament with Colby a little. We read the scriptures, he read his while we read ours, Colby has been saying, “Can’t …hold…on….much…longer” A lot today. It is from the Cliffhanger segment on Between The Lions on PBS. He hasn’t seen that for ages!

Friday, January 16, 2009: On the way home Colby wanted to open the windows I the car with it being Zero degrees outside so he could let the bats out of the car, he was being Batman. He has no clue who Batman is! He was close to falling asleep in the car and was really tired when we got home. He ended up going up into his bed and crying, “I’m not tired” until he fell asleep.

Sunday, January 18, 2009 Colby said he wanted to get me a birthday present. He wanted to get me a remote train. At first he said he was going to give me his trains but then he thought it would be better to go to the store and get a new remote (control) train.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009: Today was the Presidential Inauguration for Barak Obama. We were watching a musical number with a violin, cello, piano, and clarinet and Colby said, “The cello is like what Jessica’s mommy (Allison Eldridge) plays!” I had no idea he knew that.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009: At dinner last night after about 10 “whys?” from Colby Josh said he wondered how many times a day he says WHY? So I started counting today. I lost track after 40, and that was before breakfast!! It probably was close to 150 times today. No joke. He was wondering around kind of talking to himself and using something that I didn’t want him to have and I asked him what he was doing and he said, “I’m using my imagination.” When Colby was helping me make dinner I said something to him like, “Thanks Buddy” and he said, “You’re not my buddy, Jake is.”

Sunday, January 25, 2009: I went in and peeked in on him in primary. They were talking about the sacrament and they asked why we take the sacrament and Colby stood up and said, “To eat bread” and Bogart next to him stands up and says, “To eat apples” and then Evan just stands up for the heck of it.

Thursday, January 29, 2009: Colby said he wanted to go outside and go sledding today. The sun was out today, but because of all the rain yesterday it was ice and wet so for some reason I suggested we go to the zoo. It actually wasn’t that bad. Yes it was cold, but the sun was out and it wasn’t too windy. We seriously had the place to ourselves. Colby didn’t want to leave, of course.

Friday, January 30, 2009: We went to the Children's Museum for our playgroup today. We met everyone at 10:30 am. We took the train in. Colby woke up at 7:30 about 2 hours earlier than usual. Obviously he had so much fun. I tried to have Colby go potty and he wouldn't do it. Every sound he hears in the bathroom he thinks is coming after him. I'm not sure if he thinks the plumbing is going to work its way out but he gets so scared. So we ate lunch and then finally I convinced him he needed to go, and he did! Thank goodness he can go standing up. I think that helps a lot. Colby played until 7:30 and I finally was about to collapse. I don’t know how he can just go and go, and on not even a full night sleep. Colby kept saying he wasn't tired but as soon as we started back to the trains he was complaining about his feet hurting and he couldn't walk. So I had to carry him. It was too cold out to stand and wait for him. He said he wasn't tired and that he wasn’t going to fall asleep but as soon as we got on the train he was out. He slept on the train, maybe 20 mins. and then I had to carry him all the way home. I ate and then sat on the couch and ended up falling asleep on the couch. Colby on the other hand was ready to go and stayed up till 11 pm playing with Josh!!!! Seriously, how does he do it?

December 2008 Updates

Monday, December 15, 2008: When Amy came to get her, Abbie, was kind of pulling at Colby and Colby looked at her and said, “I’m not your friend, I’m your cousin!”

Colby sat on the potty for a long time but was able to poop! When he got down he said, "There are bugs in my feet." His feet had fallen asleep and were tingling.

Thursday, December 18, 2008: Colby just wants to play with the "ponstruction" trucks!

Colby was playing with a snow globe at mom and dad’s and said, "Remember I broke Grandma and Grandpa Fisher’s." Um, that was last Christmas and nothing has been made mention of that since! What a memory.

Friday, December 19, 2008: Colby finally decided to poop again. After when he looked in the potty he said, "It looks like a candy cane."

Saturday, December 20, 2008: At dinner Colby started to fall asleep at the table. As soon as Jeff picked him up and tried to put him on the couch he was tired and didn't want to get up. Bonnie asked him what he was doing and he said, "I’m sleeping."

Bonnie went downstairs to tell Jeff she didn't want him to spend 4 hours watching the stupid game and Colby said, "Stupid is not a nice word and I want to watch the game" So we watched BYU lose.

Sunday, December 21, 2008: Colby asked if a man at church was Pres. Monson.

When we were getting dinner ready no one was watching Abbie, except Colby. She started going towards the fire and Colby yelled out, "No, stay away from the fire, you'll get burned."

Colby was playing with all the little girl cousins he found the two boy toys very first, football and soccer ball. Then I went to go check on him and he had a little tea pot and I asked what he was doing and he said, "I'm drinking coffee," I said who drinks coffee and he said, "The train drivers do." Okay.

As we were leaving Scott's, Colby was yelling, "I'm going to get my father."

Monday, December 22, 2008: Colby loved Trent Jensen. The second he saw him he clung to him. He gave him a hug and said, "I love you so much."

Tuesday, December 23, 2008: Colby was almost asleep in the car and we were listening to Christmas music. He was asleep and then he said, "It's Here comes Santa Claus" but his eyes were asleep and then he didn't say anything else.

Wednesday, December 24, 2008: Colby was walking around and saying," I want to walk in a winter wonderland."

Saturday, December 27, 2008: Colby doing a stop sign on the doors when Jake tried to leave. He would stand in front of the door and say, “Stop Sign. You can’t leave now.” And stand infront of the door so he wouldn’t go. When we asked where he got that from he said he learned it from "his sister in nursery!"

November 2008 Updates

Friday, November 07, 2008: 8 am – 3:50 pm wore underwear and didn’t pee all day. At 3:55 he is crying and beyond help. He says he doesn’t know how to go. At 4:10 he just finished crying. I’m not sure if he is afraid, hurt, scared but that is not healthy! Maybe it is partly because he woke up at 6:30 am and went to bed at 11:30 last night. He took a 3hour nap, which he requested himself at 11:30 am. He fell asleep on you of me on his bed in seconds. One of my favorite moments! 4:12 pm “I did it. I did it. I just peed in my diaper!” Colby – 1, Mom – 0.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008: He played with his little raccoon and named him “Crunchedt”. He has been using that name for a couple things. I don’t know where that came from but now it is his raccoon’s name.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008: I tried to get Colby to wear underwear this morning. He just cried and cried for a diaper! Ggrr.

Thursday, November 13, 2008: He told me to do Pilates and then got down on the floor and climbed all over me and wanted to tackle me and play blast off with me. Who needs Pilates when you are heaving a 3-year-old around!

Saturday, November 15, 2008 . So Colby woke up at 7 and we started him to use the potty and he was crying about using the potty. , Josh and Colby called saying Colby had just used the potty. He was proud of himself but he was still crying about having to use the potty. It was about 9:20 am. So I told him I would get him a present. So I got home and Colby was still sitting on his potty. He had moved it into the dining room by the edge of the living room and had set up camp. He had food he was eating and was watching Josh play the Wii. And that was pretty much what the rest of the day was like for Josh and Colby. Colby wouldn’t get off his potty. He sat on it for over 8 hours and went 3 times total. I gave him juice, spicy juice, and hot chocolate to drink to try to help him.
We ended up buying tickets to Utah over Christmas. Colby was very excited and kept asking if we could go to Utah yet.

Monday, November 17, 2008: Colby woke up at 7:45 dry! So I took off his diaper and had him sit on the potty thinking he would have to go at some point this morning. He sat on his potty chair and did a good job of leaving it in the bathroom. So while I waited I did Pilates for an hour and a half. I cleaned the bathroom. I read scriptures. I made breakfast and ate (which was about 11:30 am by this point). Colby still had not peed or eaten yet. While I was on the phone he grabbed his breakfast I made him and ate, about 12:00 pm. I had given him hot chocolate and milk to try to help him go. Still hadn’t happened. He had wanted to go to playgroup, the playground and the zoo today. All of which he didn’t do because he would not pee! So at 1:15 I am in the kitchen and Colby in hi most happy voice says, “I did it! I just peed. I can wear my elephant diaper now.” Over 17 hours later he finally peed!!!! That kid has bladder control!

Friday, November 21, 2008: So I had him try to sit on the potty more and he ended up pooping on the potty for the first time! He was so excited and proud of himself.

Saturday, November 22, 2008: . Colby in the car earlier had said, “I’m tired now. I’m going to take a nap.” And he did.

Colby and I went to the b-day party. The kids all made kites and as Colby was making his he was doing a pee pee dance so I asked if he had to go potty. So we went and tried and he went on Andrea’s big potty! That was the first time he sat on a big potty and he went!! Yea!!!!
Sunday, November 23, 2008: Josh comes out and says that Colby was in the microwave and had got a cup and filled it with chocolate syrup trying to make hot chocolate by himself. Even though we had no milk!

Monday, November 24, 2008: Colby requested to sleep in his underwear!

Wednesday, November 26, 2008: Colby woke up some time in the two o'clock hour and came over and woke me and told me he had to go potty. So I went in the bathroom with him and sat and waited and waited and waited. He had to go poop and finally was giving it a try. He was starting to fall asleep on his little potty but he kept trying. Finally about 3 am he finished his job, and what the job it was! He had filled up his little pot. I cleaned him up and sent him back to bed while I cleaned up his toilet. I dumped it out in the toilet and flushed but it didn't go down. It was so big and hard it had plugged to toilet. So I had to clear the path way but then it was still clogged. So I spent the next half hour plunging!

Thursday, November 27, 2008: Colby liked egging the dogs on some. He would start to laugh and make a high pitch sound and Indy’s ears would flip up and that would make Colby laugh even harder and the cycle continued!

Saturday, November 29, 2008: Josh’s new saying is “because I’m cool like that.” He started saying it to answer Colby’s constant “why” questions. So Colby decided that when he wanted to do something that all he needed to say was “because I’m cool like that.” It is very funny hearing it from Colby. “I need to take a bath ‘because I’m cool like that.’” Or “I don’t need to go to bed ‘because I’m cool like that.’” Colby liked to pretend he was a dog. He would ask to sit in the dog kennel and then asked to be locked in. He would just sit or pretend he was scratching himself like a dog. In the tub he wanted to use the dog shampoo because he was a dog. When he got out of the tub he said I need to shake off now and got on all fours and shook just like the dogs do!

Sunday, November 30, 2008: On our drive home from NY he was crying out, “Help, help.” Over and over. Finally at the last service area Josh took his little potty chair into the bathroom and made him sit until he pooped. It only took between 30 -40 mins! He didn’t like the toilets with the automatic flushing because they would flush while he was sitting on them.

October Updates

Thursday, October 02, 2008: . As we were getting ready to leave the zoo we were walking under a tree and we heard loud banging sounds and then all the sudden a big “DOING” off the top of Colby’s head and then he started crying. An acorn had fallen off the tree bounced down the tin roof of the barn and hit Colby right on the top of the head! Wrong place at the wrong time!

Sunday, October 5, 2008: We were sitting by Marcia and she offered him a piece of gum to try and keep him quiet a bit longer. He looked at Josh and asked him if it was gum then he turned to Marcia and Colby said, “I can’t have gum. I haven’t gone on the potty yet.” Our bribe to get him to use the potty is that he can then have gum! What a good obedient son I have!

Monday, October 06, 2008: During FHE we were talking about prayer and we asked Colby what things he can pray for and he said "Missionaries" and we asked him who a missionary was, assuming he would say Grandma and Grandpa, and he said "Elder Lish!"

Tuesday, October 07, 2008: We picked up Colby from Evan’s and he was so so sad. He had tried to go out the back door and Evan had slammed his ring finger in the door. It happened earlier. He wasn’t crying but he was ready to go home when we got there. His whole nail is purple and I am sure it will fall off!
Wednesday, October 08, 2008: We left the house at 9:45 am to go to the Children’s Museum. We got home after 6:00 pm.

Thursday, October 09, 2008: Colby’s new name for me is Darling, like the mom on Lady and the Tramp, and Josh’s is Pongo!

Saturday, October 11, 2008: . Our next stop and the main reason for us going on our trip in the first place, The Choo Choo Barn. Colby was so excited to go to the Choo Choo Barn. We stayed until it closed, for about an hour. Colby wanted to run around with the trains and watch them go around and around. It was actually very impressive. It wasn’t just the trains but it was the whole little city at work. The cows grazing in the fields, skiers down the mountain, Amish building a barn, a three-ring-circus, firefighters putting out fires and all the parts moving! In the gift shop Colby had to get a Choo Choo Barn train, one that works with his train set. Out the back of the Choo Choo Barn were train tracks with old cars on them. They were just crying out for Colby to climb on them. Then he wanted to walk up the tracks. He ended up finding the Strasburg Railroad. They happened to have a train that was leaving soon. So we bought tickets and got to ride on the open-air car at just around sunset. The train is an old steam engine locomotive. We were in the first car behind it. Colby thought it was great until it started to get ready to leave. Then it started up with the steam and blowing it’s whistle. It was very loud and Colby sat with his ears covered the whole way down the track. He’s so much like his mother at that age!

Sunday, October 12, 2008: We woke up thinking church would probably be at 9 am. It was actually at 8:30 am so we hurried and left to go to sacrament meeting. Before we even got there Colby was begging to go to Nursery. We walked in the church and Colby starts loudly asking for nursery. We get to the chapel and Colby is crying for nursery. Josh stayed out with him, and then tried bringing him in after the sacrament. Then I went out with him and he kept trying to find which door was nursery. What is he going to do next year in sunbeams? We ended up leaving during the last talk because we couldn’t get him to be quiet. He screamed and cried as we took him out and in the car on the way back to the hotel.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008: Colby was just bursting with energy from being in the car all day so he was all over the place. He kept climbing on me, my thighs were still very sore. I asked him to please stop climbing on me because it hurt and then Josh took him and he said, “I’m being a handful!”

Friday, October 17, 2008: Then Colby came in to the computer room and asked if he could play in the backyard in his poop. His exact words were, “Mother, can I play in the backyard in my poop?”

Sunday, October 19, 2008: We had mentioned wearing underwear to Colby in our conversation. He ended up saying his prayers all by himself tonight. He went in his room and knelt and said all of his prayers. He also said, “Bless me when I wear underwear tomorrow.”

Monday, October 20, 2008: I thought it would take advantage of Colby’s prayer last night and have him wear underwear. He had them on for an hour but wouldn’t sit on the potty. He was begging to go on a walk. So we went for a walk while he was in his underwear. I figured if he peed then he wouldn’t like being wet and want to go home and then he could see what it felt like to wear yucky underwear. So we walked to the library and to the playground. Every few minutes I would ask if he had to go potty and he would say, “No, I’m not going to pee.” So by now it had been almost 3 hours. We had just gotten to the green playground – his favorite- when he came over to me and looked at me and I knew. When I asked him if he peed he said, “I peed but that’s okay. I can play in my wet underwear. It will dry.” Plan backfired! So as to not contaminate the playground we had to leave and boy was he mad. He kicked and screamed the whole way home. Which happened to be about ¾ of a mile, not too far?, wrong. Try walking with a toddler who doesn’t want to, who is screaming and crying and wet with pee for ¾ of a mile! He would make it so far and then there was a small cement wall and he said, “I want to cry on the wall.” The only reason we made it home is because I am so strong. I had to carry him kicking, screaming, and slapping me! Lesson learned!

Wednesday, October 22, 2008: When I was in the shower Colby came in and said, “I’m singing 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.” I asked which song and he said, “7 Brides for 7 Brothers.” The I asked which song form 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and he sang, “Going courtin’, going courtin’…”

Sunday, October 26, 2008: Then at about 10pm we heard little footsteps and Colby was awake. We were getting ready for bed so we told Colby he needed to read books in his bed. At about midnight Colby comes in and says that he spilled the bubbles. So I finally get up and he has been in the bathroom playing. He has unwound the roll of “paper toilet” has grabbed a towel to wipe up the mess he made with the bubbles. He has gotten out our toothpaste and his trying to brush his teeth. He had gotten out all his church toys and was playing with Mater. And he had a poop! After I got everything cleaned up I put him back in bed and he finally fell asleep!

Monday, October 27, 2008: Colby wanted to swing on the big boy swing and asked me to push him higher so I gave him another push and Colby went flying off the swing. He did a forward flip off the swing and landed on his shoulder just barely missing landing on his head. He ended up crying but said he hurt his fingers and that’s it!

Friday, October 31, 2008: We walked up to Beacon Hill and they had closed off the streets and it was just masses of people walking around. There were infants all the way to adults (with no kids) dressed up and trick or treating. The sidewalks were full of people. Everyone just sat out in front of their houses and handed out candy. You had to wait in line at each house. Crazy. There were really neatly decorated homes and great costumes. I think Colby was more interested in that then in getting candy. Towards the end he was done. He didn’t want to hold his heavy pumpkin so he started taking out handfuls and giving them to Evan. He didn’t want to go up to the houses anymore either, Evan on the other hand was all about the candy. We were so lucky that the weather was so nice, Cowboy Colby didn’t even have to wear a jacket to cover up his costume! When we got home he wanted to make hot chocolate. He didn’t even ask for candy!

Children's Museum

Colby's favorite place on earth is the Children's Museum right now. And what a better person to go there with then his best bud, Evan. They played all morning and when it was time for Evan to go, Colby stayed and played some more, until closing actually!

Best Buds
Originally uploaded by Josh and Julie Miller

The Children's Museum
Originally uploaded by Josh and Julie Miller

September 2008 Updates

Monday, September 1, 2008: Josh woke me up this morning just before 9 am saying Colby had just thrown up. About half way through he asked to lay down in his bed. Of course it is a beautiful Labor Day out and we are stuck inside. Poor kid. Colby looked up at the sky and said, “Does Jesus live in the sky?”

Saturday, September 6, 2008: Colby played “Underdog”. He would put my big exercise ball between the stairs and the Luv Sac and then climb on the ball, jump on it like it was a trampoline and then launch himself on to the Luv Sac while saying “Underdog”!

Monday, September 08, 2008: Colby wanted to play blocks and build a church with bells and then he wanted to add a coo-coo clock to it, like in Argentina! And then he said, “Should we say, ‘Coo-coo, coo-coo?’” We did that in Argentina too! For a snack Colby ate his mixed veggies of (all canned now remember. Can you say sodium?) mushrooms, olives, green beans, and garbanzo beans. It’s better than for breakfast when he usually requests it!

Tuesday, September 09, 2008: Colby was playing with his trains, his new Thomas ones he got for his birthday, and as he was driving them around the track he was talking for them and when he would finish saying something he would say, “said Thomas” like the narrator does on the TV show!

Wednesday, September 10, 2008: Colby is now baby horse. The other day he requested to watch Racing Stripes. At first he called it “the crazy chicken movie” and I had no idea what he was talking about and then he said “oh Yeah, it’s Racing Stripes.” (There is a crazy chicken in it). He watched it once, like a year ago. As soon as he finished he was on all fours running around and neighing! He said, “I’m on the race track. Neigh” When Josh got home from work he said to Colby, “Hi baby dog.” And Colby said, “I’m not baby dog, I’m baby horse. Neigh.” And it stuck! He neighs everywhere.

Friday, September 12, 2008: When I was getting the movie set up, Colby and Avery were sitting on the couch next to each other and Colby said, “Let’s kiss.” So they started hugging and kissing each other. They thought it was pretty funny!

We went to get Colby from the kid’s room from the company party and we just sat back and watched him for a minute. Then Daddy Dog started barking and Colby looked around and said, “Who’s barking? Is that you daddy dog?” And then he turned around and saw us and ran over to us barking!

Sunday, September 14, 2008: Colby didn’t even make it through the announcements at church when I had to take him out. He kept yelling at me throughout sacrament meeting, “Don’t bother me mom” and “Don’t say no to me” as he is waving his finger at me. To make it even better he is standing in the aisle way doing all this.

Monday, September 15, 2008: I was trying to prep Colby for his doctor’s appointment today. He had his 3 year check up today. He was a little hesitant about the idea but did fine as we walked into the office. It helped that the waiting room was full of trucks, big trucks. He was having a great time. Then they called him back to get his height and weight! He was screaming and climbed up on a chair. I had to carry him in. He didn’t want to get down to get weighed. Finally, he did. He was 32 lbs. and 38 inches tall! He is tall (65%) and skinny (43%). So then they took us into the exam room. He just clung to me and cried. We had to go out and get one of the big trucks to bring into the room with us. They wanted to check his eyes. He was crying as they asked him to point to certain letters. It was a matching game. He did it great! Then the nurse left and said he need to strip down for the doctor. He lost it then. He didn’t want to take his clothes off. I got his shirt off is all. When the Dr. came in he was crying and he said, “I want my shirt on Mom.” She said that it was fine and once I put his shirt on he did so much better! He talked to the doctor and answered all her questions and told her about stuff we did. They had to take his blood too, just a finger prick. He didn’t even flinch at that. He watched as they squeezed blood out of his finger and filled a little vile. When it was all over he wanted to go back out to the waiting room and play with the trucks. Then I couldn’t get him to leave.

Tuesday, September 16, 2008: Colby can spell his name and do the letters in sign language as well! He is also recognizing all the letters in his name and trying to write them!

Wednesday, September 17, 2008: Colby decided to go to the playground rather then play on the beach. He liked Marcia’s dog but was a little hesitant of getting too close. He pretended he was baby dog at the playground and was on all fours barking. He would watch, Keminy the dog, shake and he said, “I can do that too. Do you want to see?” and then he would get down and shake. He did the same thing when he saw the dog scratch his head. He put his foot up to his head and scratched like the dog! Too funny.

Wednesday, September 24, 2008: Colby can spell his name, no problem, now. He will say, “C-O-L-B-Y, that spells baby dog!”

Thursday, September 25, 2008: We were listening to the radio and Colby asked if we were listening to Coldplay. Then he said, “C-C-Cold, C-c-cold. Cold starts with ‘K’.” Sounds like he is getting some of his phonetics down! I packed some things for Colby to take to the baby shower to entertain himself. In the car on the way he said, “I don’t want my toys to get wet!”

Monday, September 29, 2008: He wanted to come home and watch “Rescuers Down Under” again. I put it on while I came down stairs to work on the computer. I ended up talking on the phone to Bonnie. Colby came down and said he was talking to George outside. He has been playing with imaginary friends. One of them is George. So I thought that he was talking about him. I asked if George was a monkey or a person. He said the person George, come see. So I go upstairs and he had figured out how to open the door again after I tried to make it harder for him. He was outside on the front porch talking to George Corbin, from our ward! He saw Colby outside by himself and asked if his mom was around somewhere so Colby went to get me!!!! AaaHHH. What am I to do?

Tuesday, September 30, 2008: In the car on the way home from lunch with Patty, Colby just started laughing out loud. I asked him what was so funny and he said that Word World was. I asked him what was so funny about it. He said that the song that the duck sang was. I asked him to sing it to me. It was Twinkle Twinkle and ABC’s but ended with “next time won’t you be a hippopotamus” Colby was laughing so hard he could hardly sing it for me! He is too funny.

Updates Aug. 08

Friday, August 1, 2008: Colby woke up, 7:15 am. HE was calling for Mama Dog. Josh poked his head in to say Hi and he said, “No I said I want Mama Dog!” And then he said, “Is it time to play with Avery yet?”

Sunday, August 3, 2008: Colby fell asleep in the car ride home, about 6:15 pm. We put him in bed when we got home and he stayed asleep. Literally, he stayed asleep all night. He didn’t wake up until 7:15 the next morning!

Monday, August 04, 2008: At the playground he said, “Four minutes, then we are going home to eat lunch and take a nap.” This was at like 11:00 am!
Josh had called to say he was coming home and we were on the phone with him and he had another call. Then he came back and we talked for a little while and then Colby said, “My other phone is ringing. Hold on a second Dad.” And he went and grabbed his “Nemo” phone and started talking on it.

Tuesday, August 5, 2008: I was trying to figure out how to give myself this new shot, it is in the form of a pen, and trying to get dinner ready and trying to keep Colby happy. He didn’t take a nap because he was playing. So he came into the kitchen and took out a yogurt and started eating it at the table. I figured out the shot and thought it was pretty quite. I go into the dining room and Colby is fast asleep sitting up at the table. Poor kid. I think we are staying too busy.

Wednesday, August 6, 2008: We were walking up out of where the fish are and Colby was chanting, “Let’s go Red Sox” and then he made the clapping sound and, “Let’s go Red Sox.” Just kind of to himself. He is so funny. We got back from the zoo about 3 pm. I told Colby that we were both going to take a nap because I woke up with a sore throat and wasn’t feeling too great. I went down stairs to put the laundry in the dryer and I came up and he was passed out in the living room floor.

Thursday, August 07, 2008: We watched part of Singin’ in the Rain. (appropriate for the weather we’ve been having) We stopped it after awhile and Colby said, “It’s not fair.” That is his favorite saying for everything he doesn’t want to do!

Sunday, August 10, 2008: Josh was able to put Colby to bed tonight when he was getting him into bed he said, “It makes me sad that we left my train blanket on the airplane. Someone needs to bring it back to me!” Somehow at 10:30 pm he still wanted to read to himself so by his night light he read out loud to himself “Hungry Caterpillar” and “Trains”. It is so cute!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008: I made him banana bread for his birthday cake. Josh convinced him he wanted to go to the Olive Garden, that’s where we went! After dinner they came out singing to him. He ducked his head down in his shy way and wouldn’t look up at them. Then when they left he asked where his birthday cake was.

Wednesday, August 13, 2008: At the beach Colby found some big kid friends to play with. They came over and asked if he wanted to see what they were doing and he played with them the rest of the time. He followed the as they climbed the big rocks and went down into the water. When Colby would go down to the water he couldn’t always see us when he would come back and baby dog would start barking trying to find us!

Wednesday, August 20, 2008: Colby was coloring in his room on his build-a-bear box and he came running into to me, “I made a ‘C’, I made a ‘C’. “ So I asked him to show me what he had made. He brought the box into me and sure enough there was a perfect “C” on it. I asked him if he could draw me a “T” (his favorite letter) and, yep, sure enough. Then I asked if he could draw another “C” and he did! He was very proud of himself. He has been asking me more what letters certain words start with. He has been picking it up and learning all on his own!

Friday, August 22, 2008: Colby was at the table and I walked in the dining room and he was sucking his thumb. I asked what he was doing and he said, “It’s like Lizzie does.” Oh great

Monday, August 25, 2008: Colby was playing with his train set and was saying, “Gracias.” I asked him if he was saying “Gracias” just to be sure and asked him where he heard that. He said, “It’s what Grandma and Grandpa said, remember?”

Updates Feb. 08 - July 08

Feb. 24, 2008: Josh brings Colby down stairs to me and says, “You need to tell Mommy what you said.” And Colby says, “What did I do with the toilet paper?” to me! He put a whole roll in the toilet as he unwound it.

Feb. 29, 2008: Colby wanted me to read Curious George Goes to the Train Station. He always says the first line by himself. So I wanted to see how much he knew. Every time I paused he was able to fill in the next word and sometimes more! Amazing. As we were getting ready to say prayers Colby wouldn’t hold still and Josh said, “Come on Colby, I’m tired.” And Colby said, “You’re not tired, you’re Josh!”

March 2, 2008: Josh was fiddling with the air in the car and Colby said, “It’s not working properly.” I guess he heard that on Thomas. It was pretty funny.

March 3, 2008: Josh and Colby love to play “hot lava” Colby put in his tool belt and hat and said, “I’m a Bob. Bob the Builder can I fix it? Bob the Builder Yes I can.”

March 11, 2008: We went to the cemetery on a walk and you found a stick that you called “sliver” from Veggie Tales. Then you threw it on the ground and said it was a snake, like in the movie.

March 12, 2008: You climbed up on my lap while you were playing trains and asked me to sing you the “Birdie Song” Then you looked up at me and said, “I love you, Julie.” My heart melted. You organize all your trains by color today!

March 15, 2008: We went to an Easter Egg Hunt at a nearby park. It was cold and snowy/rainy. There weren’t many people there, but there was a photographer from the Boston Globe who took your picture with Evan. You’re picture made it into the Sunday edition of the Boston Globe. You are dumping out your basket of eggs!

March 20, 2008: The first thing Colby says when I get in the car after getting is, “The cat is poopy.” “The cat is poopy?” I asked. “Yes.” “What cat?” “Lori’s cat” he said. Josh told him that last night.

March 23, 2008: Easter morning. You fell asleep last night before we could do eggs. In the Morning you didn’t want to look for eggs you just wanted to eat the candy in the first one you found.

March 24, 2008: You’ve talked about going bowling for a week. So we finally went for FHE. You wanted to go with the Leishmans but our family seemed to be good enough. You loved watching the balls come up. You got the hang of rolling the ball down the lane by yourself.

April 9, 2008: Mommy and Colby took a trip to Syracuse to visit Lukey. Michelle and Mommy took Colby and Luke to “Elmo Makes Music” a live Elmo on stage. You were mesmerized. As we walked out it was very windy and you yelled, “Go away wind” over and over. You tried covering you head and “hitting” the wind to make it stop! At the playground I asked you if Elmo or the playground was funner. Why did I pay $60 for Elmo when the playground is funner?

April 11, 2008: We went shopping with Shell. As we pulled in the parking lot you said, “A is for shopping!”

April 12, 2008: You wanted to walk Indy by yourself. We told you not to let go. As you took a step down Indy started running but you didn’t let go! You fell flat down but still held on.
You saw “a huge freight train with box cars.”

April 13, 2008: You went to Nursery in Shells ward. I was in the hallway holding Luke and the nursery came out to get a drink of water. You saw me and didn’t even acknowledge me. You stayed with the class, you love it! We drove past IHOP where we ate breakfast yesterday and you said very excitedly “That’s the restaurant.” As we were getting ready to leave Syracuse we realized we didn’t have your train blanket. We asked you where it was, you were already in your car seat. And you said, “In the closet, behind the computer” and, yep, it was!

April 15, 2008: I asked you what your favorite food is and you said, “Oatmeal, pancakes, and vegetables.” Yeah right!

April 23, 2008: No nap today and still awake at 9:30 pm. YOU were yelling “I’m not sleepy” over and over. So I started singing “Stay Awake” from Mary Poppins. You stopped screaming and listened. Then you asked me to sing it again. Then you went and grabbed your blanket from the table and walked into your room, climbed into bed and asked me to sing it again. Then you were asleep.

April 25, 2008: I was doing Pilates and Colby was watching me. I was on my back with my legs in the air and Colby said, “What are you doing with your big tush?” You had me laughing so hard I had to take a break.

April 28, 2008: I had all the boys upstairs and was feeding Caleb then Colby and Evan went downstairs. After a while I heard a blood curling scream from Colby. He’s never the one crying. So I knew something had happened. As I walked downstairs, Colby turned around to look at me and he had a huge bump on his head with the middle dented in. I asked what had happened. It Colby 15 mins to calm down. Evan had thrown a bridge train track at Colby. When I asked Colby why he said, “Because I was hitting him.”

May 13, 2008: You say The Sound of Music is your favorite move. You love “My Favorite things” and can sing the words. You’ve seen the movie once!

May 15, 2008: As I was getting you ready for nap you said to me, “What’s the word on the street?” I was afraid being raise in the hood was rubbing off on you but turns out you said you heard it on TV –PBS.

May 18, 2008: I was lying down for a nap after church and you climbed onto my bed and I asked you to sing to me. You sang every word of “Stay Awake” and “The Birdie Song” from Mary Poppins that I always sing to you! It was so precious. I didn’t even know you knew the words.

May 20, 2008: Colby and Evan’s favorite activity –taking off all their clothes, taking all the couch cushions off and throwing them on the floor, and jumping on the couch while singing “No more monkeys jumping on the bed”.
We were at the playground and all of the sudden you start flailing and screaming, “Get it off me” You were almost crying. I thought you got stung by a bee. Turns out there was a tiny little inch worm caterpillar on him. I got it off and you said, “I was scared of it!” Ya think?!

May 25, 2008: What you wore to church: pants on backwards and “one soccer shoe and one bowling shoe” – you had to do it yourself. (You’ve named all your shoes)
June 8, 2008: I’ve been trying to get you to sit on the potty. You told me, “I’m allergic to the potty.”

June 9, 2008: You went upstairs during my morning run on the treadmill. After, I went upstairs and didn’t see you. You were outside on the porch. When I asked you how you got out there you said, “I opened the door.” So I had you show me. Sure enough you opened two child safety locks and the front door dead bolt and was able to get outside. You stuck your little finger in the hole they have for the lock then grabbed the outside of the child lock and opened it!
We were getting ready for FHE; we actually started before 9 pm. And you said, “We can’t, it’s not dark out yet.”

June 12, 2008: While Colby was waiting for the garbage truck to come he said, “When I’m a worker and I’m bigger I’m going to drive a garbage truck because that would be fun.”

June 18, 2008: We were at the store in Colorado with Paula and Lizzie. Lizzie was trying to get Paula to buy something, you said, “Put that back, Lizzie, we don’t need that.”

June 22, 2008: I went to get you out of nursery at Paula’s ward. You saw me and backed up and started to cry. They handed you to me and you cried, “I don’t want to leave nursery!” As I walked away you said, “I want to go back to nursery.”

June 23, 2008: We went to Garden of the Gods with the Leishmans. We saw chipmunks all over. You asked if they could talk (because you just watched Alvin and the Chipmunks).

June 24, 2008: We watched Mr. Robin outside at Grandma Sorensen’s house & so when it was time for bed grandma said Colby could build a nest on the floor by my bed so he wouldn’t have to sleep w/ me. She called him baby bird. Then grandma was grandma bird and I was Mama bird. He said, “I’m not Colby I’m baby bird.” He loved sleeping in his nest.

June 30, 2008: We were going to go out to dinner before we took Josh to the airport but it got too late and we ended up going to Taco Time. Melissa and I took the boys home because Colby didn’t take a nap and was falling asleep eating. It was very funny.

July 8, 2008: . I got out my guitar that has been forever it seems since I got it out and Colby had remembered that I played Old McDonald on it and requested "the farm song."

July 9, 2008: It was another nice and hot day and I wanted to make sure that today I was able to get in the water so I wanted to go to Houghton's Pond. I had to do some errands first. Just to stop at CVS and the post office. Trying to get Colby to do what I wanted at CVS was a joke. He found the little toy section and wouldn't move. We sat there for a while before I could convince him to go. By the time we got to the post office he was crying. Come on Colby, it's not like you haven't been sleep deprived for a full month now! HA!
Colby helped me make banana bread so I can take it to all the people we are visiting tomorrow! He love wearing his "skirt" (apron) the Grandma and Grandpa on a mission gave him!

July 16, 2008: Our flight to Argentina - Customs were pretty funny because no one spoke English and Colby was full of energy (ex. Didn’t want to wait or stay in line with us) but we finally made it. Colby saw Grandma first he ran right to her. What a relief to finally make it. We brought a football and sent out back in their huge backyard to play with Colbs a little. Grandpa had to do tickle worms and blast off with Colby. We went to eat at McDonalds for dinner so Colby could play on the overcrowded and dirty playground. Everything is always dirty here –pollution! Before Mom and Dad drive any where they say a prayer in the car – good idea! There are crazy drivers here. We came back to eat ice cream and Colby was falling asleep eating. He was so dirty he needed to take a bath but didn’t want to. His bath must have rejuvenated him just enough because he wouldn’t go to sleep after that and ended up reading stories with Grandpa. Josh was still working. Finally, I tried to get Colby to sleep in one of the rooms and he just wouldn’t lie down. I said, “Do you want to sleep in Mom and Dad’s bed for a while?” So I put him in bed and as I was getting in the sheets to lie down beside him he was already asleep!

July 17, 2008: Colby helped Granma make waffles. We didn’t eat until almost 11 am. We got ready to head out for the day except Josh who had to stay and work. We went to the zoo! It was dirt and fences but it was nice and we had fun! Colby liked the orangutans. He liked walking like them. He tried to feed the goats and pet a horse. Colby loves saying “of course” and “I guess”. He says them when he wants to do something, “yes, of course.” We went to find a playground for Colby and to have a picnic. We found a broken slide, broken swing, broken seesaw that Colby was holding on and swinging under the bar and said, ”I do this all the time!” ! Grandpa got Colby his birthday present, $3 race cars that Colby picked out in Cordoba!

July 18, 2008: Colby was very shy with the missionaries at first. Grandpa did interviews with a district. I brought all his toys for him and he warmed up to them pretty quick. The city we were in was Cosquin. We met a district and the assistants. One missionary had rocket balloons that Colby thought were just great.

July 19, 2008: We slept in until after 10 am. After breakfast I showered and came downstairs and Colby said, “Mom, you look good!” What a way to start the day! I love that boy. ! We drove to a German town in Argentina! We found a little fun or amusement park called Oktoberfest. Colby went around on a car tack, went on a carousel, drove race cars, played in balls and a bouncy gym. Colby had so much fun he didn’t want to leave. We ran into 2 people from North America there. When they asked Colby his name he said, “Baby dog.” At home Colby took a bath and requested Granma to read to him. She loves that! He was giving kisses all day. I love it!

July 20, 2008: We went to church in Rio Ceballos about ½ hour north of Cordoba. The drive up there had the most beautiful sunrise. Colby and Josh played “pokey snake” in the car. I don’t think Colby even cared or knew that no one else spoke English. He loved Nursery. In sacrament meeting Grandma and Grandpa sat on the stand and we sat in the back. As we were getting ready for the sacrament Colby said, “5 more mins and then we are leaving okay?” How does he get so funny? The row behind us had all YW aged girls they had a candy here called bon-bons. They kept giving them to Colby and he would shyly take it and say Thank-you. I brought Gummy Bears for him. He took one to each of the girls. He started drawing pictures and handing them back over his shoulder to them. They loved him. So did all the other kids/people. They had treats for the kids after church and a boy dragged Colby to the kitchen to get one and he played outside with them.
Colby was playing catch with me inside and kept leaving and coming back. I had left the kitchen and he came back to play with me. I walked around the hallway and came in the back of him. I walked in and said, “Boo.” I thought he was going to jump out of his skin. He jumped, literally his face turned red, his mouth opened huge, and he screamed/cried. Because I started laughing he didn’t keep crying but laughed, too but I felt so bad! I didn’t expect it to get that reaction.

July 21, 2008: Colby helped Grandma make pancakes. Grandpa – Chef de la Chef- made a Mickey Mouse one for Colby. ! We went to Carlos Paz to see the coo-coo clock. We had a hard time getting Colby back in his car seat but when I told him he could have a caramel (dulce de leche) cake he climbed right in. He kept asking for caramel crackers. Then we drove up to the mountain in the city and went on a little hike to over look the city. Colby didn’t want to walk, so after taking turns holding him we got to a look out and then came back down. Colby liked collecting rocks on the hike, especially the prayer rocks that were under all the crosses on the way up! Colby was on Josh’s back and they were playing “pokey snake”.” Josh pretends his hand is a snake that eats and then chokes on everything and Colby thinks it is the funniest thing ever. They had a huge slide that you slide down on potato sacks. We all did it. Colby loved it! At first we would all get stuck about halfway down then they waxed the top and we flew down. Grandpa gave Colby a bath and then the missionaries came over for FHE. We had ideas of things to do with kids for FHE. Colby helped us as an example. Grandpa had to do tickle worms with Colby for the missionaries. They liked to see the Grandpa Olsen side of Dad, too! As the missionaries were leaving Colby told them, “Are you coming to the office tomorrow? I will see you in the office tomorrow!” He was a show off for the missionaries.

July 22, 2008: Grandpa bought him a carton of chocolate milk at the store on Sat. and pretty much finished it today! As we were getting ready to go Colby was looking for Beatrice, the house keeper. He said, “Beatrice, where are you? Is Beatrice going to come with us?” We went bowling. Colby’s favorite is playing with the balls. He was covered in black yuck from all the balls. The balls were all chipped up and in pretty bad shape. After bowling we went out to eat again to Rancho Grande at about 8:15 pm. As we drove by McDonald’s Colby said, “Remember that restaurant we ate at? Do you want to eat there?” Josh told him he could when he was 12. Colby said, “Okay, I’m 12.”
Josh asked if he was tired. He said, “I’m not tired. I’m just sleepy.” Grandpa and Colby went to read stories. ½ hour later Colby starts calling for me. Grandpa had fallen asleep and Colby was still awake. The only naps Colby has taken this trip have been a few minutes in the car as we have been traveling.

July 23, 2008: Beatrice gave Colby a present. It was a Mickey Mouse bouncy ball. He loved it so much he took it to play ball with us. Colby was our ball boy. He ran across the court to throw us balls but he also got bored and wanted to explore. Colby helped Grandma make hot dogs for lunch. As soon as we got back he had to tell the missionaries what we did. Colby played “blast off” and “tickle worms” with Grandpa just before we left for the airport. The missionaries gave him a little “future missionary” badge (in Spanish). We took pictures and said good-bye to the missionaries and Beatrice. As we got off the plane in Santiago he said, “Can I play with the sewer truck?” He had remembered the airport from our way there and there was a truck and train to play on but we didn’t have much time on the way there. So it worked out nice that he was able to play the whole time on our layover.

July 24, 2008: We were in Miami waiting for our flight to Boston I was looking through our luggage and noticed Colby’s blanket wasn’t there! He slept on the floor on the plane and left it there when he woke up. I walked back to the gate we got off of. I tried talking to people but we didn’t find it. Colby entertained himself with his Mickey Mouse ball. He was so hyper at 5 am. He was bouncing it and running all over!
Josh and Colby were down stairs playing and Colby was on the keyboard. That night he was banging on the notes and he said. “Let’s sing a song for Family Home Evening” He said, “sing, Teach Me to Walk.” And he banged on the piano. I was so tired but Colby didn’t seem to want to go to bed any earlier!

July 25, 2008: Colby woke up a little after 8 am. He ate green beans for breakfast. I tried to get him to eat pancakes but he ate his green beans, cold, instead! Then he wanted to go for his walk to see the trains. He wanted to take his dump truck and tow truck with him. Somehow I got to hold one too. On our way back I stopped at the convenience store to get some milk because I didn’t feel like going shopping. So Colby had to get some juice of course and he can’t walk, drink, and hold his truck and the same time so I had to hold it all while he slowly walked and drank his juice. He wanted to take a nap on the couch again. He fell right asleep!

July 26, 2008: Colby was playing down stairs and bumped his elbow. He said, “I hurt my elbow. I’m okay though don’t worry about it Mom!”

July 29, 2008: Colby came with me to the dentist. Colby came with me to my appointment 6 months ago as well. As soon as he walked in the building he opened the dentist’s office (It is an office building so there is more than one door in the building) and then he said, “I want to play with the toys.” And turned to the closet in the office and opened the doors where they keep the toys! I don’t know how he remembered! Then when I went in to get my teeth cleaned he sat out in the hallway and played with the Pirate ship. He talked to the lady cleaning my teeth the whole time. He told her we went to the zoo yesterday and that his favorite animal was the huge snake that went “hiiissssss.” She said that she was amazed at what a difference 6 months made because last time he just said “what” to everything she said. Apparently she remembered him too.

July 30, 2008: Then we walked to the sprinkler park. On the way we were walking in a neighborhood and he said, “This is where I went trick-or-treating in my Spiderman costume.” Actually we didn’t go there but some of the houses looked like it. So I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween this year and he said, “A birthday cake.” After dinner Colby helped Josh take out the trash. Trash night is his favorite. After all when he “is a worker and when I am bigger I’m going to work on the garbage truck!” As I was trying to get Colby into bed he said, “Mom, what’s the deal?” How do you not laugh at him?

Updates May 07 - Feb. 08

May 3, 2007: Colby has been saying his prayers! He folds his arms and bows his head (even if he just sees me crossing my arms). We’ll start him out and then he will say, “Evan, Julie, Dada, Evan”. Then we will tell him other things to repeat but he always starts out that way.

May 9: During the middle of lunch Colby folded his arms and said, “Pray. Evan, Julie, Dada, Sammy, Trey Trey, Sammy. Amen.”
I was talking with Josh on the phone and when I hung up Colby said, “Bye, Chia.” (Chia is a lady I VT and she calls a lot)!

May 27, Syracuse, NY: We were getting ready for church and were about ready to leave and Colby locked himself in the bathroom! It took 15 mins. To get him out. Josh finally slid a credit card between the door to open it. Colby wasn’t fazed at all. He was playing with Michelle’s hair stuff in there! Later…Colby was playing with the fireplace and Sadie doesn’t like the noise. She started barking at him. He got scared, blinked, took a step back, looked around and then got on his hands and knees on the floor right next to her. Like he was trying to blend in!

June 4, 2007: Colby is terrified of thunder. There was a big storm today and he said, “No thunder” as he cried. There was another big storm on the 21st and he was scared stiff, literally. He wouldn’t move and just clung to me. He will ask all the time, “What does thunder say?” and then I’ll ask, “What does lightening say?” and he will say, “Kachoow!” (from the movie Cars)

June 9: Colby loves “basket ball.” Because he’s so cute and wouldn’t let go of one, he got a free basket ball at a yard sale. He saw one at church and went under the hoop and was throwing it with all his might to make a basket.

June 12: 22 months old. Colby can sing “The Sunbeam” song by filling in words! He is getting very attached to his “canny” (blankie = blanket. It was the same word he called Michelle’s dog, Indy)!

July 17, 2007: Colby’s first trip to Disneyland – He loved it! Especially Buzz Lightyear, the Tikki Room, Tea Cups, Dumbo, and the water park in Bug’s Life. He loved Mickey Mouse! He did not like the Fireworks!!!

August 12, 2007: Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday he was a tiny quiet little boy receiving his baby blessing at church. Now church consists of Colby enjoying the sound of his own echo in the quiet chapel. (“Hiii-yaaa” is a favorite.) And when quietly encouraged to quiet his voice because we are in church he yell’s “NO CHURCH” as loud as he can. It doesn’t help that he can see Josh sitting on the stand. He has to let everyone else know where his Daddy is. “I see Daddy, there he is!”
I just can’t describe who much I LOVE having a two year old! He is absolutely everything to us! His bedtime gets later all the time. Mostly just because we want to keep him awake to play with him. He is a little boy through and through. He loves trains, cars, race cars, motorcycle, trucks, “Snorts”, airplanes, buses,… (are you catching on yet?). His other passion is balls. It is basketball, tennis ball, baseball, soccer ball (yes he has all these different balls and knows which each are used for). He loves going into the gym at church to shoot hoops! He gets the ball and stands under the basket and throws it up. Of course it comes back to land on his head most of the time. He just says “Oh, almost” and tries again. He found our tennis rackets one night and didn’t even want to eat dinner because he wanted to play tennis. So we went to the tennis courts and he swung is racket and went after the balls. He also didn’t mind watching Josh and me try to play. Just a warning to all parents of a two year old, I would not recommend having your child play with a beach ball while you are running on the treadmill. All I have to say is that was one strong beach ball! Somehow he also knows what a hammer and nail are used for. He saw a nail sticking out of a fence and asked Josh for a hammer. Josh was curious to see what he would do with it (first he had to check with me to see if he was really asking for a hammer. I honestly don’t know how he knows what a hammer is). Josh went and grabbed him the hammer and he headed right for the nail to hit it back into the fence!
You know his brain is just working none stop when we are sitting out on the beach and Colby says “Pot stickers.” Or we are eating a PB sandwich and he yells out “Zebra.” Or my favorite is when he is playing with trains and he says “Evan (the little boy I watch) scared of vacuum.” He already knows good music when he hears it. When he hears a U2 song he says, “Yea, Bono!” He is terrified of thunder and fireworks. He always asks “What Thunder say?” So to distract him we ask, “What does lightening say?” And Colby says, “Kachoow.” (If you don’t know what this is then you need to watch “Cars”).
He is also the most tender loving boy. When he wakes up in the morning he calls for Josh, he says, “Come here, Daddy” in the most tender voice. He holds his arms out and grabs for him and says it over again. He loves to do group hugs. He puts an arm around both Josh and I and he is in the middle and he squeezes us! We call it a “group hug”. He just started to snuggle with us again. Before bed sometimes he will ask for “Rocky, Rocky.” We sit on the rocking chair and rock together. I love it! When he talks on the phone he says, “Hi, Can you hear me?” And then when he says goodbye he says, “Bye, See you in a minute.” He has also learned the appropriate times to say, “Thank you, Bless you, and Excuse me.” He’ll hear someone sneeze at church and say, “Bless you.”
His favorite book right now is The Book of Mormon. He has a little military size one that he carries around with him everywhere! He even sleeps with it. I had a friend over and Colby woke up from nap with his Book of Mormon in hand. She asked what book it was and he said “Book of Mornin’” (that’s his name for it). She asked what it was about and he said, “Jesus”. What a good little missionary he is already!
He is doing something new every day that amazes us and makes us laugh. What a blessing we have been given to be the parents of such a wonderful spirit! We love you Colby!

August 2007: Colby was in the tub and wanted to say a prayer. So he started out all by himself and then stopped so I Said, “Thank you for…” and waited for him to fill in the blank and he said, “Jon and Amy” and then ended his prayer and “Amen”. It was so cute! He does miss his family I think!

September 10, 2007: Colby had his 2 year check up at his new pediatricians. It is only 2 miles away and doesn’t; cost $8 to park – it’s free! So I was hoping he’d do better with a new place and new face but, um, nope! He cried, “I go bye-bye now. I get in the stroller. No, No, NO!” and so on. He was a little comforted by the fact that he got a bandied after he got stuck to get his bold tested. He weighs 26 lbs. 13 oz. and is in the 35% and is 35.5” and in the 75%. He is getting tall and skinny. I asked him what his name was when I was filling out the registration form and I said, “Is your name Colby?” and she said, “No, It’s Josie.” The Johnson’s just moved back in to our ward and he loves her! She is 6!

Sept. 10: Colby loves listening to the “Wicked” sound track in the car. He requests it every time we get in. He usually requests “popular song” and “Wicked” song, although we aren’t sure which one that is!

Sept. 12: Colby was looking through some stuff and found a picture he painted and said,” Holy Smokes, I made this. Holy Smokes,” I was laughing so hard!

Sept. 18: Colby requested to listen to Tikki Room at snack time. We have Evan trained well to say, “Yea, Bono!” Colby said, “It isn’t Bono. It’s Tikki Room.”

October 4-9, 2007: Grammy and her friend, Jayne, came to Boston to stay with Colby while we went to Puerto Rico! They went on the Freedom Trail, Shopping, “Wicked” (Colby stayed with Evan), out to eat, and even stayed up in Maine over night! They said he was an angel. I don’t think he even missed us!

Oct. 19: Colby had his first sleep over with Evan. Evan is a big brother today so we watched him while his Mom was in the hospital. They slept in the same room, but different beds. They fell asleep after 11.

Oct. 22: We left to go to Syracuse today to see Shell’s baby Luke, born Sept. 5th, Paula flew into Boston and came with us. Grandma Olsen was in Syracuse too from Argentina. We went apple picking with baby Luke. Whenever his nose would itch Colby would say, “I have a bee in my nose.” Colby actually got a real “bee in his nose” while posing for a picture at the farm! Colby was afraid of Sadie and Indy’s (“candy’s”) barking at first but then got used to it. Sadie put holes in Colby’s blanket as you tried to get her to bark. You became very attached to your dump truck. You threw tantrums when you didn’t have it and took it to the sacred grove. You made Grandma and I laugh so hard when you spun around on a toy at the playground and then tried to get down and walk and fell flat down.

Oct. 29: You were Spiderman for Halloween because I couldn’t find anything else! But you love it! You wore it to a party at playgroup. You wouldn’t take it off so you wore it to the library and Costco, too.

Oct. 31: You went trick-or-treating with Evan around our circle. You were a little hesitant to go up to the first house but once you saw you got candy you would knock on the doors and say, “Trick-or-treat” and “Happy Halloween.” You even touched the knights that stand out in the house behind us! You usually say, “Daddy, go touch the knights.” Evan touched them so you did, too! It was a quiet night even though it was so warm so each house gave you handfuls of candy. Your pumpkin was full by the time we just did our street!
November 1, 2007: You pushed your dump truck more than ½ way to the playground. You wake up in the mornings and still ask to go get Evan.

Nov. 5: You hugged your blanket and said, “I love you blankie. You’re the best.” That’s what you and Daddy say to each other every night before bed!

Nov. 19: You took the syrup from me this morning and said, “You can’t have any. It has eggs in it.” So he does pay attention! Whenever he leaves the room he’ll hold his hand up and say, “Stay right there, okay? I’ll be right back. Stay there.”

Nov. 22: Michelle and Ty and Luke came for Thanksgiving. They brought sparkling cranberry juice! You loved it can called it “Spicy juice”

Nov. 24: I heated up green beans for Colby for dinner. He took the green beans out of the bowl and drank the green bean juice. So gross. I was gagging. He said, “Um, that tastes good.” He’s had a stuffy nose all week and his favorite thing to do is pick his nose and eat it. He loves it. When I try to get him to stop he says, “Don’t. Stop it, Julie. I’m eating.” Yucky, yucky, yucky! I think I might throw up on him one day!

Nov. 28: Colby asked to say the prayer for breakfast. He said, “Heavenly Father, Thanks you for today. Thank you for Julie, Dada. Bless Dada at work, Bless Evan in California on the airplane. Say these things in Jesus Christ, Amen” I love him!!!

December 5, 2007: We were in Barnes and Noble when Jon was here. You found a backpack for $25 and loved it! We tried to distract you and hide it. When you noticed it was gone you screamed, “Where’s my suitcase? Who took my suitcase?” I went back later and found one for ½ off. I just had to get it for you!

Dec. 10: You love to give group hugs. You put one arm around Dad’s neck and one around mom’s neck and squeeze.
You love reading the “No, David” books. Now when you say “No” it is always “No, I said, No” just like in the book. On the ways home from Church you asked if you could watch a movie and I said, “No” and you said, “Yes, I said, yes!”
As you scribble you start to tell me what you are drawing. “I made a dinosaur” “I made a 2” “I made a snake” etc.

Dec. 9: Probably Colby’s worst day a t church so far! He ran up to the front during the sacrament prayer and found the long microphone and tried to plug it in. When I went to get him, he yelled, “No stop it, Julie. I want the microwave!” I had to take him and the microphone out because I couldn’t pry it from your hands.

Dec. 11: I put Colby in bed finally at 11 pm. He didn’t want to go. As I was walking out the door he said, “Wait, I need to clean up!” Wow, he is good – but it didn’t work!

Dec. 14: Flew to SLC. We left 6:30 am, the day after the biggest snow storm of the year. At the end of each flight (we flew threw Phoenix) he yelled, “I want to get off” very loud. We tried to give him a bath in Grammy’s tub but he just screamed! He was so scared (of something?). You hated every bath you took in Utah – tub or sink! He didn’t fall asleep that night until 9 pm Utah time and only took an hour nap on the plane!

Dec. 16: Playing with cousins you said, “Graice, you need to share with me.” He was talking about trains that she was playing with. He made the comment after he had been asked to share some of his trains with her!

Dec. 17: Grandpa Fisher told you, you were “casin’ the joint” Later you told him you were “casin’ the joint” We put you in a playpen downstairs to nap at Fishers. I was upstairs and I heard on the stairs, “Wait, Julie!” You climbed right out. (You did it during the middle on the night, too when we stayed at Grandma Sorensen’s). You were walking through the snow in Grandpa’s garden and he said “Careful there is a hole” just as you step in it! You were buried to your chest. I’ve never seen Grandpa laugh so hard!

Dec. 18: You used Grandma Sorensen’s bread box as garage for all her match box cars. She loved it and so did you!

Dec. 20: We went to the “Chipmunk movie” with the Millers. You loved it and sat through almost all of it. You still talk about it months later!

Dec. 24: You woke up at 2:30 am throwing up! You threw up 12 times before 8 am. Just as we’d get everything cleaned up, you’d do it again. You threw up 14 times in all. By that evening you were back to yourself. We don’t know what it was and no one else got it!

Dec. 25: You loved opening presents, especially with your “grench” (the Grinch plus a wrench, we think). It was actually a saw that you opened in your first present which was a tool kit! You took a nap from 6:30 – 9:30 pm!

Dec. 27: Our flight one from Utah. On the leg from Salt Lake to Las Vegas , with about 10 minutes left on the flight, a little 3 year old girl was crying in the seat in front of us. She was sitting at the window seat, with her mom in the middle, and dad on the aisle. She was saying “I want daddy to sit in the middle seat”. Colby was very concerned. When the plane landed, and we got him out of his car seat/stroller seat (which by the way is the best invention ever). He walked over to the window, and poked his head around the seat “Are you ok?” he said. She told him that she was going to North Carolina and Colby said “NO, We are going to BOSTON. ” We had a 2 hour layover in Vegas and let Colby watch Curious George for the 21st time in 4 days. About ½ way through, we decided to change his diaper, so we paused the movie. Just at that moment, another 3 year old boy was playing on the seats just down from us. Colby said, I want to play with my friend, and proceeded to give this stranger boy a big hug, and said “Hi my friend”. Then they proceeded to run up and down the airport. Moving from the slot machines, to running circles around a little old lady in a wheelchair (which Colby politely waved hello to and said “This is my friend O.K?” (as he pointed to his new buddy). A third kid joined them, and the three of them just laughed and ran around. Even though this kid was older (by about a year) than Colby, Colby was leading him around the room. Saying “Come on, let’s go”. Colby also introduced himself, “My name is Colby”. The little boy called him Colby for the rest of the time (and Colby would perk up and say “What?” whenever the boy said his name.) By this time it was midnight!

Dec. 30: We put Colby to bed and then we were getting ready for bed when we heard a bang and then the door opened and Colby said, “I’m awake.” He climbed out of his bed by climbing on his changing table. I rearranged his room the next day!

January 2, 2008: You call the movie “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” - “Drumsticks”.

Jan. 6: Colby was in the back row of the church sitting with Evan. Josh got up to bear his testimony and Colby said, “Hi, Daddy” and Josh said, “Hi, Colby” and Colby said, “What you doing?” and Josh said, “Bearing my testimony.” Everyone in church just laughed!

Jan. 10: We went on splits with the missionaries and daddy. You made the missionary laugh. Ou said, “You want to see something? I can burp. UUggg” and “I want to go to the food store (Target) and get a hot dog and a spicy drink” You called the missionary’s companion on the phone to see where he was and left a message, then you looked at the missionary in our car and said, “I called you!”

Jan. 14: You love Matchbox 20 now. And request to dance to it during lunch. You know the words and sing along!

Jan. 30: Colby was washing dishes (his new favorite activity) and he said, “The Eagle has landed.” I said, “What?” And he said it again and then said, “Ted said, ‘The Eagle has landed.’” Of course, Curious George! I guess he really is into the movies he watches!

Feb. 1: Colby used scissors and glue for the first time today. The first thing he said was, “I can cut my hair!” Oh, dear. Good thing he doesn’t like haircuts! A few days later I was reading while he was cutting and he came up behind me and said, “I can cut your hair!” We had to have a little lesson on scissors!

Feb. 13: As Colby drank his mild he said, “My milk is in my body. It feels good.”
Josh had a late night at work so Colby and I turned on the TV (we watch some movies but hardly any TV). American Idol was on and it was going through auditions. A girl with long blond hair came on and Colby said, “What is mommy doing on TV?” I said, “Do you think that’s mommy?” and he said “Yes”. A little while later she came on again and he said it again!! For his song a guy started singing “A whole new world” from Aladdin. (I just bought it for me for my birthday!) And Colby said, “It’s from the monkey movie!” He calls it the monkey movie because he loves Aboo.

Feb. 14: He calls himself “Colbs”. “Can you get that for Colbs?” or “Can you do this for Colbs?” Who can say no to that?
He got the Aristocats movie from Grammy for Valentine’s Day. He loves it. He sings “Everybody, everybody wants to be a cat” He was even in the bath tub and he was licking his leg and he said ,” I’m like the kitties.”

Feb. 17: We had ward conference yesterday and Josh was the one that had to do the sustaining of the offices and leaders of the church. Colby stands up on the pew in the middle of the row and says, "Hi, Daddy" and waves his little arm back and forth. When Josh didn't respond, he did it again! By this time, Josh is laughing although he is trying not to look at him and everyone that has ears in the chapel is laughing and looking back and forth between me, Josh, and Colby (who was sitting with another family, by the way). He is just being himself and it is so cute, but a little distracting!
During the sacrament, he sat with another family. After church my friend came up to me and said, "Did you know that Colby was saying the sacrament prayers?" And I said, "Yea, he always repeats things." And she said, "No, he was saying the words BEFORE they said them!" So at dinner I told this to Josh and he asked Colby, "Colby, can you say the sacrament prayer?" Josh started saying it and then Colby started where he left off and started saying the sacrament prayer all by himself!!!! Okay, so he had food in his mouth and you couldn't understand every word perfectly, but he was saying the sacrament prayer!!
I was so happy I started to cry!! I just feel like church is a battle trying to keep him quiet and entertained and then he goes off and does this!! He really is listening and getting something out of church! Who knew a two-year-old could pay attention like that while still being so disruptive?! That moment of hearing him pray was well worth years of battles at church to keep him quiet!

Feb. 20: Colby loves to push little kids. Especially ones just learning how to walk. He doesn’t push , like a hard shove but still tries to make them fall down. I don’t get it. Every Sunday after church I ask what he did in Nursery and he says, “I hit Jessica.” Every single week!

Feb. 22: Colby was counting on our way back from picking up Evan. He got to 10, 11, 13, 14, 16 and then said “Fiveteen” for 15. And then said 16 again. Evan said 16, too and Colby said, “No, it’s my 16.”

Updates Jan. - April 07

Jan. 12, 2007: This morning as Mom was unloading the dishwasher she found on the bottom rack the remote control for the TV! Dad heard you and just laughed! You are too funny! You probably say close to 90 words!

Feb. 3, 2007: You saw me in the cupboard and said “Vitamin” and asked for yours! Wow. What a genius!

Feb. 9, 2007: You helped me unload the dishwasher today. You would take out silverware put it over your head, without even turning your head to wait and look at me and then I’d grab it and put it away and you’d take another one out and hand it up to me without looking.

Feb 9, 2007:
You were trying to read today! You were reading a transportation book with lots of stop signs in it and I started pointing it out to you and saying “stop” then showing you the sign for it and then spelling “S-T-O-P” for you. When you would see the stop sign you’d say “spot” and then start singing the “ABC’s”. You knew I was spelling using letters and you wanted to try too!

Feb. 2007: You sing “Elmo’s World” theme song all the time. You go, “La La La Elmo wo” (trying to say “world”) You also sing a song called “Push it” from the Disney Channel. You put your hands out in front of you and push as you dance and sing “Push it”! Then you run to the TV because you want to watch it.

Feb. 12, 2007: 18 month check up. You screamed the whole time someone was in the room at the Drs office. You screamed walking in and just shook uncontrollably. You weighed 23 lbs and 32” long.

Feb. 14, 2007: You cleaned up your spills for the first time! You took the towel by the sink and went over to where some milk had spilled on the floor and wiped it up without being asked! Then I was feeding you some pudding and you had some around your mouth and you went over to the towel to wipe your mouth off (without any hands) and stuck your whole face in the towel.

Feb. 14, 2007: You went out to help me shovel snow (or more like freezing rain) for the first time. It was very slushy and there was a huge puddle of water and ice at the bottom of the driveway. You liked stepping in it and splashing. You were turning around to come up the driveway and fell face first in the ice water! You came up saying, “Cold. BRRRR!”

Feb. 19, 2007: You threw up 6 times today and then the runs for the rest of the week! (I think you got it from Evan).

March 1, 2007: We went for a walk to look at the trains. You walked up and down the path and loved watching the trains. You didn’t want to leave. I finally got you to go up the next street. There was a house that had two dogs coming out and headed straight for us. One was tiny and the other medium. They were barking. I thought you might be scared but you just started laughing so hard. You started barking at them and chasing the little one. When it jumped off the curb you started laughing so hard you fell down! I’ve never heard you laugh so hard!

March 9, 207: You had your first night away from us. You slept at Leishman’s. I had choir and a lot to do on Saturday. So I took you down to them. You had a great time.

March 19, 2007: You were reading a book that Evan kept trying to look at and you would say, “No, mine.” And then finally you yelled, “Stop it.” My, you are picking up on everything!
You do the cutest dance by moving your shoulders and ribs back and forth when you hear music. You say, “dance” when you see a radio. You also know how to turn the TV on all by yourself. You will say, “TV”, go turn it on and then sit down on the couch, it doesn’t matter what is on TV.

March 22, 2007: I went to the Drs. to get my stitches out after getting a mole removed and as soon as we went into the DRs. Office you started crying! You thought you were going to get a shot! So they gave you a lollipop!

March 31, 2007: Trey and Lizzie stayed with us while Paula was in Colorado. You would wake up in the mornings and say “Where are you, Trey, Trey?” You tried to do everything they did including sucking your thumb and twirling your hair!

April 3, 2007: You counted to 8 today. You said, “one, two, three, four” I said “five” and you said “six, seven, eight!” Holy smokes. What a kid!

April 11, 2007: You are obsessed with choo-choo’s. Every time we are outside, in my bedroom, or when you can hear them but not see them you say, “Where are you, choo-choo?” You throw tantrums when we don’t take walks by them! You know the color orange- specifically construction cones! And you count to 10!

April 20, 2007: You got your first prescription filled for pink eye. I don’t know where you got it. You gave it to Evan though!

Test

Posting
